There seems to be some confusion over the real ID drivers licenses and the gold star :

LEGACY REAL ID CREDENTIAL - gold star
CURRENT REAL ID CREDENTIAL - star with black boarder around it.

Please go to the link provided.

You can use the gold star ID until it expires and then it will be replaced with the Current one.

Remember, if you are flying domestic you must have this!
It can take up to 30 days to get this in the mail.

If you don't have a state-issued REAL ID yet, a passport can also be used to meet this requirement.
