Did you know? A baby Sandhill Crane is called a c**t because of its long legs and wobbly gait, which resemble a young horse.

Within just a few hours of hatching, Sandhill Crane c**ts can walk, swim, and follow their parents through wetlands in search of food. These early days are critical as they learn the skills they'll need for one of North America's most impressive migrations.

Keep an eye on this young c**t sticking close to its parent, a small glimpse into the next generation of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem's wildlife.

Take a look at one of Yellowstone’s most dramatic wildlife encounters.

In this week’s Wildlife Wonders, Kevin Taylor captures a tense moment as wolves test a bison’s defenses. Will the pack succeed, or will the bison stand its ground?

Watch the story unfold and see how predator-prey relationships shape the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Wildlife is active across the Greater Yellowstone, including Grand Teton National Park. It’s important to stay alert, travel in groups when possible, and carry bear spray where it’s easily accessible (not buried in your pack). Make noise on trails, watch for tracks or fresh sign, and give all wildlife plenty of space.

It is our job to keep both ourselves and the bears safe out there!

It’s migration season—and you know what that means. The air is starting to fill with the sweet, whistling notes of Yellow Warblers, Red-naped Sapsuckers are tapping their way through the search for sugar (same), Soras are tucked deep into the tall marsh grasses, and Eared Grebes are shaking off winter, relearning the skies as they return to our waters.

Birding season is officially on.

Late spring in the Greater Yellowstone means moose season is in full swing. Calves are beginning to appear, willows are leafing out, and moose are spending their days feeding in wetlands and quiet forest edges. Keep your eyes peeled on early mornings — you never know when you’ll spot a cow and calf wading through the water or a bull browsing nearby.
