An incredibly windy night on Going to the Sun road, allowed me only to take a few images of the Milky Way. Tracked/Blended, 2 min exposure with the star tracker to capture the light of the Milky Way at ISO 1600 to reduce noise and another untracked for the mountains. Experimenting with raw processing for the stars and starless fields separately to reduce the noise and bring out more detail.

Continuation of day 1 at Glacier National Park, MT. A rude awakening happened while photographing Paradise Meadow, I noticed my lens mount was loose and destabilized the image plane to the sensor. Some of the best lighting photos are out of focus. :( I was still able to salvage some and tightened the screws to allow the evening shot to be all in focus.

A trip back to one of our favorites, Glacier National Park, MT. Clouds of the first night dissipated just right to bring a nice sunrise shot at Wild Goose Island overlook. This year, there were just two of us at the outcrop. A few years ago I stood with about another 12 photographers at the same spot fighting over tripod locations.

Finally getting around to posting the Firefall Photos from Yosemite this Feb 2025. I just booked another trip for 2026 to this magical place.

Thirteen minutes later, the sun appeared from behind El Capitan. I normally shoot with a 24-70mm f2.8 for sunstars; but had the 50mm f1.8 lens on at f16 and it gave a pleasing result.

A night of camping under the stars in one of our favorite campsites in Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, California. Over camping has led the BLM to restrain the camping sites to only 23 in the thousands of acres in this area. I was lucky to get in just in time to snag this prime campsite, which ended up with a great alignment to the Milky Way later that night

One of the captures from the first trip into the Yosemite Wilderness high above the Valley at Snow Creek. I have captured the Milky Way over Half Dome from multiple locations in the past (Omstead Point, Indian Ridge, North Dome, Mt Watkins, Glacier Point); but was never able to secure a permit for the top-down route, until 2024.

Have been searching for sunflower fields in Texas for years and found nothing. This year I booked a Yosemite Wilderness trip and had a few days extra to stay in the Sacramento Valley. After seeming like 100 miles driving around yesterday, I found the perfect field. Here's one from last night and one from today (cropped 3x1, 4x1, 5x1 ratios). 5x1 pano - multi image focus stack to be able to be printed as large as 24"x120" (2 ft x 10ft - Canvas of course above 8 ft wide).

Almost missed this sunset. It was mostly cloudy throughout the day and was back at camp when I saw the light starting to illuminate the clouds. 3 image blend in Lightroom.
