🚢 Carnival Cruise Travel Requirements Explained (Because This Confuses EVERYONE 😂)

A lot of people think you always need a passport for a cruise… but that’s not always true. Here’s the simple breakdown for U.S. citizens sailing Carnival:

✅ MOST closed-loop cruises
(leave and return to the SAME U.S. port)

You can usually cruise with: • Certified birth certificate
• Government-issued photo ID

BUT… there are important exceptions 👀

📘 PASSPORT REQUIRED for: • Colombia (Cartagena) • Panama • Greenland • Some Europe/transatlantic sailings • Cruises starting in one U.S. port and ending in another

⚠️ And honestly… even when a passport isn’t required, Carnival STRONGLY recommends one.

Why? Because if something happens and you have to fly home from another country… you’ll need a passport.

Examples: • Miss the ship • Medical emergency • Flight issue • Family emergency back home

🛳 Also important: Your passport should usually be valid for 6 months AFTER your cruise ends.

The Caribbean cruises most people take from Galveston usually do NOT require passports IF they are closed-loop cruises… unless they include places like Cartagena, Colombia.

Always verify requirements for YOUR exact itinerary because ports matter.

By night? Dancehall music, nightlife energy, parties that don’t stop, and memories y’all gone be talking about for YEARS.

This is not the summer to sit at home watching everybody else travel.

✨ Diamond members will receive lifetime status
✨ Platinum members will keep their status through December 31, 2028
