We said goodbye to Cusco early this morning and flew back to Lima for the day. We are exploring the Miraflores area and itās beautiful! Weāre soaking in the salty air and ocean breeze just steps from the Pacific Ocean. Took a gorgeous walk along the Malecón stopping to take lots of pics of the famous Love Park and made it all the way to the El Faro lighthouse. My lungs are so happy to be back at sea level! š¤
Fun fact: On Peruās domestic flights, you can bring water through security. No liquid restrictions either like weāre used to in the U.S.āsuper easy!
Happy Easter and Passover to those who celebrate!

Today was quite epicā¦
We started out driving about 30 minutes to our white water rafting site on the Urubamba River, a tributary of the Amazon.
On the ride there we played Disney Songs bingo and take a guess who won?! Twice! Amateurs! 𤣠My prized Peruvian lollipop was delicious! š
Suited up in our wetsuit, jacket, helmet and paddle and off we went down the river. With the Andes mountains rising high above us and the sky as blue as blue can get with very few clouds in the sky we floated and paddled our way down the river.
My legs were shaking getting into our raft but W***y the owner and thankfully our guide made me feel at ease as he guided us with our instructions.
Not once did I feel scared once we got out on the river only exhilarated. I sadly chose not to take my phone with me so I donāt have pictures although we had photographers onsite with us. We seemed to always be pulled up the rear so Iām not hopeful for a lot of photos but I think he may have caught a few.
I felt so energized when we got out which I really wasnāt ready for except my fingers were tingling quite a bit towards the end of our rafting journey which meant I needed some water prompt. Many were experiencing this but water, sugar and snacks helped us all.
The crew spelled out Disney with the oars and our photographer had his drone with him so we should have some cool aerial photos coming.
We then headed to Olleantaytambo to the archaeological center followed by a delicious Peruvian lunch/picnic. These sweet rest spots have been a joy. And wow the views of the Andes!
On our way back to the hotel we stopped at a local bar to try some blue corn beer. And by try I totally mean I took pictures of others trying it. I hate beer. š¤£š¤
Salt pans and Moray ruins are up tomorrow and a rest day in the afternoon before our cooking class tomorrow evening!

Today has been looooooooooooong but amazing!
We were up at 5am, had luggage out and breakfast at 6pm, sat in Lima traffic for 1.5 trying to get to the airport (I slept), checked in at the (chaotic) airport for our 10am flight on Sky Airlines.
Fun factā¦flying domestically here in Peru they donāt care about your liquids and you can bring water in with you as well. That was great.
Our adventure, guides, Joy and Rudy, have been amazing at directing us giving us all the information we need and got everybody to Cusco. Once we landed, the ABD crew took our luggage straight to our resort and we headed out on an adventure.
We loaded up our two buses; we are Team Cusco and the other bus is team Pasha. š¤ Joy and Rudy had snacks for our drive and thereās always water on the bus. We tried Chuta bread which reminded me of a sweet almost cinnamon bread.
We drove about an hour to our highest point of the trip at 12550 feet above sea level and ouch does my head hurt. We are staying hydrated, taking preventative meds, taking liquid IV and drinking cocoa tea.
We stopped in Chinchero at the Center for Traditional Textiles for a textile workshop and lunch catered by Cicciolinaās Picnics (chefās kiss)!
We ate a farm to table over the top outstanding Peruvian lunch. Bill ate alpaca. Thatās the only thing I said no to so far. š«£. He said it tastes like steak.
Another 30 minutes and we were to our resort in Urubama for the next 4 nights, Tambo del Inca, in the Sacred Valley. The resort is incredibke and we even have an alpaca in the lobby! Our room is monsterously large and we have amazing views of the Andes!
After an Andean dinner called pachamanca and an Inca show we got our pin of the day and prepared for our white water rafting adventure tomorrow.
Whew Iām tired!! But still in the pinch me phase of I canāt believe we are in Peru!

Historic Lima!
Today we took an Uber to the Plaza de Mayor and surprisingly stumbled into their Palm Sunday parade. What a delight! I even snagged a cross palm for myself! And the hubs had an Inka Cola which tastes just like Disney World! IYKYK
Ubers are incredibly cheap here and easy to use. We spent $10 USD total for 2 Uber rides to the historic center and back.
We met with our 2 Adventure Guidesā¦Joy our ABD guide and Rudy our Peruvian born guide. They gave us a map for Lima, suggestions for what to see today, answered all of our questions before we officially join the tour and gave us our marching orders for the next few days when we leave Lima.
Annnnnnnnnd thennnnnn ā¦.they gave us our FIRST PIN! The Buenvienedos Peru pen. I died a little because I didnāt know we would get one every day of our trip. I thought we only get Machu Picchu.
Tomorrow we leave at oādark thirty for Cusco and travel to the Sacred Valley for 4 nights.
Stay tuned for more of our adventures in Peru!

”Hola from Lima, Peru! Our very first stop in South America!
After a smooth flight, we were through immigration in record timeāseriously, the easiest international arrival ever! The Adventures by Disney rep was waiting right outside with a sign (felt like a total VIP moment!) and had us off to our transfer in no time.
Lima is perched on the Pacific coast and is the capital of Peruāknown for its rich history, stunning colonial architecture, and world-famous food scene. Fun fact: while itās springtime back in the U.S., weāve just arrived at the start of fall down here in the Southern Hemisphere!
Weāre getting settled tonight, and tomorrow we head out to explore the historic center of Limaāplazas, cathedrals, and stories just waiting to be uncovered.
Stay tunedāmore adventures to come!
