☀️ June is officially here, and Jacksonville is kicking off summer with live music, family fun, community celebrations, and events happening all month long. Swipe through to see some of the highlights happening this month.
🎨 Art in the Yard returns June 6 at the David Strawn Art Gallery, inviting all ages to enjoy hands-on art projects in the gallery yard inspired by the 250th anniversary of the United States. Participants can create patriotic-themed artwork celebrating America’s history, culture, and future.
🍖 Kiwanis BBQ Braggin’ Rights returns June 6 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds! Enjoy great food, friendly competition, and family fun as teams compete for bragging rights. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6–12, and free for children 5 and under. Gates open at noon and judging begins at 2:30 p.m.
🎡 Starting June 7, take a spin on the historic Big Eli Ferris Wheel at Community Park with FREE rides every Sunday afternoon all summer long, presented by the Rotary Club of Jacksonville.
🎶 Concerts in the Park, hosted by the Pilot Club of Jacksonville, begin June 7 at the Big Bandstand in Community Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy free live music every Sunday evening at 6 PM, weather permitting.
🚗 The 30th Annual Downtown Plaza Car Show & Cruise In rolls into downtown June 13 with classic cars, custom builds, vendors, food, and one of Jacksonville’s favorite summer traditions.
🎣 Take Me Fishing, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Jacksonville, takes place June 13 from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at Nichols Park’s Morgan Lake. Kids can enjoy a great morning of fishing, and Abraham Lincoln will be there to fish with the kids.
🥃🎻 Governor Duncan’s Bourbon, Bluegrass & BBQ takes place June 14 at Twisted Tree Music Hall with great food, live bluegrass, and summer fun, all benefiting the historic Governor Duncan Mansion. Tickets are $50 and available from GDA members or by emailing : [email protected].
✊🏾 Celebrate the Day of Freedom on June 20! Join the fun to honor Juneteenth, a powerful day of remembrance, resilience, and joy. This free event will feature music, dancers, vendors, food trucks, and more. Sponsored by NAACP Jacksonville and the Jacksonville African American History Museum.
🎸 Jacksonville Main Street’s Downtown Concert Series is back on Friday nights through July 31, featuring free outdoor concerts, local shopping, restaurants, food trucks, and summer evenings on the Square.
