Outside of Travelers Aid, when he isn’t with his grandson, Ralph grows a number of vegetables in his home garden.
With the amount of vegetables Ralph grows, he can probably run a weekly stall at a local farmers market. But, he insists that he gardens for his own pleasure, eventually giving away his produce to friends and family.
Ralph utilizes his finite amount of space with organized sections of all his vegetables. Spread across the ground and a number of pots, you’ll find staples such as lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and corn.
There are also more exotic plantings like Bok Choy, Swiss chard and yellow, red and orange sweet and hot peppers. Ralph finds that gardening is a great way to pass the time. His wife gets to enjoy fresh salads from his hard work. Hours will go by in the blink of an eye, while he happily tends to his garden.
