Come create with a Crystal Bridges Mobile Art Lab artist! Try your hand at embroidery and explore a Grandma Moses-inspired mosaic activity highlighting Crystal Bridges’ new exhibition.

Two very special opportunities are coming to the Newton County Library this weekend as part of the OPMAS Art Crawl!

SATURDAY • OZARK STORYTELLER DANETTE HOUSE

Danette House is a seventh generation Ozarker, folklorist and retired English teacher who spent 31 years in the classroom. Her family’s roots in the Ozarks reach back to the 1830s, and she has devoted herself to preserving the stories, expressions and traditions passed down through generations.

Danette also trained under storyteller Marideth Sisco through Missouri’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.

Having Danette here in Newton County is a wonderful opportunity to hear Ozark history and language brought to life by someone who knows it, loves it and is working to preserve it.

And Sunday brings another pretty remarkable opportunity to Newton County! Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is bringing its Mobile Art Lab to the Newton County Library for a full day of hands on art and creativity.

Visitors can create alongside a Mobile Art Lab artist with an embroidery activity and explore a Grandma Moses inspired mosaic activity highlighting a new Crystal Bridges exhibition.

💧 RURAL WATER SYSTEMS: What if better tools could help your water system identify water loss, recover revenue, and put more dollars back into the system?
Tomorrow evening, we're bringing Online Water Bill to Jasper for a FREE presentation specifically for rural water associations, board members, and anyone interested in how our local water systems operate.
This Newton County-founded company has developed software designed specifically for rural water systems to streamline day-to-day operations — including water usage and meter tracking, billing and payments, bookkeeping support, automated reminders, customer self-service, and more.
They'll show us how it works and how these tools can help water systems operate more efficiently and make the most of the resources they already have.
