This tour was scheduled to happen tomorrow, Sunday the 11th. However, because of the massive amount of wind and rain we have received recently in Northern Vermont, we will need to reschedule this event for Sunday the 25th. We are concerned about debris and blow downs, so we will need to scout this section of the river to ensure it is clean and clear. We apologize to everyone who were looking forward to this, but safety comes first. Our partners at UMATR will be reaching out to everyone to reschedule. If you are not able to attend this event on the 25th, please let us know as soon as possible because we have both morning and afternoon tours booked with a waiting list for each group.
Our fingers are crossed to be met with perfect weather on the 25th 🀞

A while back, I had mentioned to our eldest child that I was interested in taking the SOLO Wilderness First Responder course again, and they expressed interest in joining me for this endeavor. The last time I took this course was back in 2020, and as challenging as it was for myself then I had full confidence that our 14 year old would be capable of passing this course if we worked as a team and could study together. So, I enrolled us in the course at Kingdom Adventures Mountain Guides in East Burke, VT, and 8 days ago, we dove into the world of wilderness medicine.
Today, on the 1st of July 2024, we both became certified WFR's, and they made me the proudest father in the world. I would imagine they are one of the youngest to achieve this certification, and I am excited to add another WRF to our team.
I highly recommend Kingdom Adventures Mountain Guides to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in the field of wilderness medicine, first aid, and CPR. John Kascenska is a top-notch educator, and I am honored to continue working with him. I will be joining him again for one of his courses in avalanche training this winter on Mt. Washington in NH, and I can't wait to reconnect with him and broaden our outdoor guiding and leadership skills. Thank you, John K., and a HUGE THANK YOU to my wife Haley for picking up the slack while we were away with our heads buried in the books. It sure does take a village...

Missisquoi River - Gorges 🏞
Last Friday was spent with as an additional guide for day 2 of their week long excursion, celebrating the 10th anniversary of wild and scenic designation and river protection.
The day was filled with stunning views of towering ledges and roaring class III/IV rapids, and the group was filled with a fun mix of beginner to experienced paddlers.
This is a less traveled section of the river and requires quite a bit of paddling experience to navigate properly. The heavy rain that came in Thursday night before the trip made it so that many of the rapids required portage, but we still got to sneak in a few thrilling moments. The kayakers enjoyed running most of the rapids, and a few of us canoers tested our abilities by scouting and shooting through some technical sections.
The icing on the cake for us was that we were fortunate enough to make it out just as the next round of thunderstorms rolled in. All in all, it was a glorious day on the river, and I was thrilled to connect with such an amazing group of people who are passionate about wildlife preservation and sharing these experiences with others.
