Another postcard, this time from 1950!

We're fairly sure this is Lakeside cabin, based on the cabin's shape and the distance to the neighboring cabin.

The text on the back reads:
"Hi
This is Maine - this is our cottage and this is the life!
The weather is ideal - the food magnificent and the fishing fishy."

It could just as easily have been written yesterday!

We've been digging into the history of Sunset Lodge and have come out up with some amazing finds!

This postcard say 1939 on the back, and we think that's pretty accurate due to another item we have from the same period (it could even be from a few years earlier).
The view hasn't changed much in 80 years!

Did you see this story? What an awesome looking lobster!

This lobster was caught by Alex Todd of Chebeague Island, Maine.

A normal lobster gets its color by mixing yellow, blue, and red protein pigments. Through different genetic mutations you can get a blue, yellow, or red (uncooked) lobster. You can also get strange mixtures of those colors as well.

This lobster probably has a genetic condition called Leucism which isn't a total loss of pigment (which would make it an albino) but instead a partial loss. This is why you can still see some hints of blue on the shell and color on the eyes.

Thanks for sharing Alex!

We had a handsome, if rather noisy, visitor to the lodge a few days ago. The eagle visited twice in the same day, once at around 6.30am (noisy) and then again later in the afternoon (less noisy).
