The Carolinas are my home, and we're having a moment.

Travel circles have deemed the Carolinas "one of the most underrated summer destinations in the country." I don't know why it's taken so long for us to be "discovered."

We've always done summer right. From the mountains to the cities to the beaches – we have it all. Without a passport or a 10-hour flight. Whatever your type of trip or travelers, the answer is the same: the Carolinas.

You can:

⛱ Spend a week on wild, pristine beaches in the Outer Banks or Wilmington.

🌴 Do Lowcountry luxury at Kiawah Island, Johns Island or Palmetto Bluff.

🍽 Eat your way through Charleston or Greenville — both among America's great food cities.

⚽ See a game, a show, a concert or visit a museum in Charlotte or Raleigh.

🌄 Escape the heat entirely in Highlands, Cashiers, Blowing Rock or Asheville, high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I've been to all of them, and I have my favorites. If you've been looking for an easy summer destination full of Southern hospitality, I'm here to help.

(FYI: We do Fall, Spring and Winter well too.)

Still dreaming about our stay on Turks & Caicos ✨

Grace Bay Club has suites with ocean views, chic dining options and peaceful beach setups by the water — it’s luxurious without feeling pretentious. 🌴☀️

The resort is great for couples and families looking to get away. The island is relaxed and has the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen.

We rented a car, and driving was easy (albeit on the left), but Grace Bay Club is in an area walkable to shopping and other dining too.

When you need a true, restful vacation, it’s a perfect slice of paradise!

Last week, I was in Turks & Caicos for a learning retreat with my fellow Pro advisors. We worked and played, and I spent some extra time in the islands scouting resorts for my clients (posts to follow!).

We stayed at , an all inclusive, beachfront luxury family playground. The resort itself is sprawling — rooms are organized in 6 “villages,” each with their own pools and restaurants, but you can easily walk or take a golf cart shuttle between them. There’s a waterpark, 21+ restaurants, 10 pools and amenities galore. Beaches is a partner, so we even met Oscar the Grouch 🗑️!

I think there’s a specific way to do Beaches, and it’s not for everyone. They cater well to families with active kids and parents who want/need a break. It would be great for a multi-gen vacation or family group trip too. The resort and beach are well kept, and Turks & Caicos is just stunning!

When I first started playing American Mah Jongg (aka Mahjong) with friends in 2023, I had no idea that the game would become such a craze. Now, everyone I know is taking lessons or playing: weekly, in tournaments, or in their pool on a floating Mahjong mat. Two Mahjong clubs are opening here in Charlotte this year!

Even hotels are embracing the trend. While you're traveling, you can take lessons, play in dedicated Mahjong lounges, or participate in open play with other guests. A few properties hold weekly Mahjong events, and others are hosting weekend Mahjong retreats that offer both lessons and open play.

Mahjong is definitely all the rage, so here are a few places you can stay and play. For my full list of Mahjong travel options, see the link in my comment below.

Travel right now … it’s tough out there.

Cancelled flights. Hotel reservations that disappear before you arrive. Tour guides who don’t show. These are real things that happen on real trips, and they’re the moments that change everything.

This is when you need me. A travel advisor isn’t just for booking. They’re for when things go wrong.

Now that spring is here, my clients have turned their attention to summer and fall travel plans.

This month, I'm finalizing details for single travelers going on safari (separately) in Kenya, a friend group headed to the National Parks and couples who need a getaway or are celebrating big milestones (or both!).

The smartest travelers are already booking their summer (and fall!) trips. While Italy always has a place on the "must" list, I'm steering my clients to some other destinations to skip the crowds. Same magical vacation, half the chaos.

My advice: don't wait too long to book your summer travel. The travelers who get the best experiences aren't necessarily going to more exotic places, they're just making better decisions earlier.

Swipe for some destinations I think are worth booking now for summer 2026!

A stay at The Charleston Place feels like you’re an overnight guest at Bridgerton House with all the soft blues and regency styling.

is a grande dame of Charleston, anchoring an entire block between King and Market Streets. You are in the middle of the action and walkable to everything.

The hotel is undergoing a spectacular renovation, and I was lucky enough to stay in one of their finished Reimagined King rooms with club access. The lobby and public spaces are grand, the rooms are beautiful and the service is impeccable.

Put this on the top of your list for your next visit to Charleston! I can offer special perks too that are included with your rate.

In 2012, I wanted to take a trip but no one wanted to come with me. My birthday that year was tied to a once-in-a-lifetime event happening in London, so it was go or not go. No rescheduling. I could have stayed home on my couch (depressed) ... but I went anyway. Solo.

It was so great! I read my book at pubs, took day trips, joined neighborhood walking tours, had afternoon tea by myself, stood in the crowd at 4 am without anyone else's grumbles. I did exactly what I wanted to do and when.

This year, solo travel is more popular than ever. You don't need a travel partner to take the trip you dream about. My advice: Don't wait around for the "perfect time" or the friend who keeps flaking. Just go!

(And let me plan it with you.)
