When most people picture HawaiÊ»i, they picture white sand beaches, palm trees, and turquoise water. And sure, we have plenty of beautiful coastline—but that’s only one small part. đŸŒș

The Big Island is a place where lush rainforests and waterfalls give way to sprawling lava fields. Where you’ll find coffee farms, tropical gardens, black sand beaches, volcanic landscapes, and incredible night skies—all on the same island.
That contrast is part of what makes the Big Island so special. You can travel from one side of the island to another and feel like you’ve arrived somewhere completely different.

So yes, come to Hawaiʻi for the beaches. Just don’t be surprised if everything beyond the beach ends up being what you remember most.

The best Big Island souvenir isn’t something you can fit in your suitcase đŸŒș
It’s the stories you’ll tell when you get home.
It’s standing in front of a waterfall you’ve only ever seen in pictures. Tasting Kona coffee where it was grown. Seeing a volcanic landscape up close. Learning something about the island you never would have known just driving by.
And sometimes, it’s the little moments you didn’t plan for at all—the conversations, the laughs, the unexpected views, and the places that end up becoming your favorite part of the trip.
We love showing people around the Big Island, but even more than that, we love helping our guests leave with a deeper appreciation for the place they came all this way to experience.

After the recent storm impacted communities across our island, we knew we wanted to find a way to help with the recovery efforts.
From now through September 30, a portion of the proceeds from every tour booked directly with Wasabi Tours Hawaii will be donated to a local nonprofit supporting those affected by the storm.

The Big Island is still beautiful. ❀
It’s been a difficult week for parts of our island, and recovery is still underway in some of the communities impacted by the recent storm.
If you’re visiting right now, a little patience and flexibility can go a long way. Respect closures, give recovery crews the space they need, support local businesses when you can, and remember that the places we visit are also home to the people who live here.
We’re grateful to be back on the road, grateful for this island, and grateful to everyone helping our communities recover. 🌿

Our hearts are with the communities across HawaiÊ»i Island that have been impacted by the recent storm, especially those in some of the hardest-hit areas of KaÊ»Ć«.
These are communities, businesses, and places we travel through and visit regularly with our guests, and it has been difficult to see the damage left behind. We’re incredibly grateful to the first responders, road and utility crews, volunteers, and neighbors already working toward recovery.
As cleanup and recovery efforts continue, some of our tours will look a little different for the time being.
Due to current road closures, conditions, and temporary closures at some of our regular stops, we are adjusting certain tour routes and itineraries. Our Grand Circle Island Tour and Twilight Volcano and Stargazing Tour will continue to operate on a modified route.
As conditions change and areas reopen, we’ll continue adjusting our itineraries accordingly.
If you have an upcoming tour with us, please keep an eye on your confirmation emails for the latest information and don’t hesitate to contact our team with any questions.

If waterfalls are on your Big Island bucket list, you picked the right island. 💧🌿
From the easily accessible Rainbow Falls to the towering ʻAkaka Falls, there are some pretty incredible waterfalls to discover around the Hilo side of the island.
But one of our favorites is a little different. 👀
Kulaniapia Falls sits on private property, and guests on our Big Island Waterfalls Adventure get the opportunity to experience this beautiful spot—and, when conditions allow, even take a swim in the pool beneath the falls.
Add in a walk through the lush Hawaiʻi Tropical Botanical Garden to see Onomea Falls, and you’ve got a pretty good day of waterfall chasing.
So, which waterfall would be at the top of your list? 🌈

If we had to recommend just one day on the Big Island... this would be it. đŸŒș
One of the questions we hear most from visitors is, “What should I do if I only have one day?”
This route takes you from coffee country to a local bakery, a black sand beach, Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, two beautiful waterfalls, and one of our favorite overlooks on the island.
Will you see everything the Big Island has to offer? Not even close. But you’ll leave with a pretty amazing snapshot of what makes this island so special.
