By day, Casa Batlló is beautiful. By night, it feels almost alive.
One of the things I loved most is that what you see from the street is only part of the story. The roof is designed to look like the back of a dragon, with colorful scales running along the top and the tower crowned by a cross representing the sword of Saint George, the patron saint of Catalonia, plunged into the dragon’s back.
Even the balconies are said to look like masks or skulls, and the columns below like bones, which is why locals sometimes call it the “House of Bones.”
Typical of Antoni Gaudí, nothing here is random. Every curve, color, and detail seems to have a story behind it.
And what you can’t see from the street may be even more incredible…I’ll be sharing photos from inside soon.
