I’ve had several really cool encounters with wildlife at the cabin, but this is my new favorite. I’ve never seen a pileated woodpecker so close up before and I had no idea they are so HUGE! This one was probably about 16 inches tall!

2) ‘Like’ at least 1 of our social media posts
3) *Publicly* post to your page your trout-related photo and tag OR email your photo to [email protected] OR comment with your photo under our Facebook post.
4) Enter as many times as you like until 11:59pm EDT Thursday, May 14, 2026. TOUT YOUR TROUT! 🎣
5) Open to US residents only.
6) Winner will be announced Friday, May 15.

More detailed details for my fellow ADHD overcommunicators:
MAKE SURE TO TAG when you share a photo of your favorite trout or trout-related thing- i.e. an actual trout you caught, the famous trout fountain in Kalkaska, your trout hat, your trout sweatshirt, a taxidermy trout on your wall, etc. We have to see it to share it, so if your profile is locked down (private) you can message us your photo, or email it to [email protected]. It’s critical that you use the tag when you post to your page or your stories. If you have anything interesting to share about the photo, please do! This is all for funsies! This is not the 7th time we’ve done this. I’m just always going to call it the “7th annual…” from now on.

The prize, you ask?!? Not only will we share your photo from our page, but we can tag you in it as our winner, AND you’ll have bragging rights for a whole year! *If we have 50+ separate user entries, I PROMISE I will come up with a tangible prize for the winner! 🩷One of my favorite sunsets I’ve ever had the privilege to watch was during one of the strangest, scariest, hardest times in my life. It was one year into fostering our then 2-year old twins and just three months into the pandemic. We weren’t sure what was to come, but we were certainly very grateful that we’d purchased our cabin the year prior. I’m not a very religious person, but I’ve always considered myself to be spiritual. This place and this view hold such a special place in my heart.💜

I made a BIG mistake. 😔 You may have noticed that our prices were a bit high. That’s because of conflicting rate rules I set up in our website software. When I synced external booking platforms, it increased our rates across the board- higher than we ever intended. 😬

The stairs are done! We are so happy we found someone to repair them and give them a cute storybook style glow up- and some white paint to match the cabin trim. Other companies wanted to tear out the brick and wood and replace them with giant stones and no railings. While I understand their vision, it’s just not Quinn Cabin. ☺️

Quinn Cabin has 100 feet of private frontage on beautiful no-wake Log Lake in Kalkaska, Michigan. We have a dock, two kayaks, a row boat, a paddle boat, and a lakeside fire pit.

We have a king bed in the primary, a full bed in the second bedroom, a queen sofa sleeper, and a day bed in the sun porch that works well for kids. (The top cushion can be pulled off to make two twin sized sleepers, but no one has used it that way.) There are also two pack n plays available.

Our convenient location just minutes from the intersection of US-131 and M-72 makes this an excellent spot for day trips to Torch Lake, Elk Rapids, Traverse City, Petoskey and the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

This quiet lake house is also just 5-10 minutes from groceries, Cherry Street Market, restaurants, and Railroad Square/Downtown Kalkaska.

These tired old things are getting a long overdue glow-up! We actually have a few other big exterior projects in the works, too. Nothing shocking. (Some might not even be noticeable to our annual guests, but necessary, just the same.) Just a few “tweakments” to restore some of its storybook cottage charm. 💚 TO PAINT OR NOT TO PAINT? That is the question. We found the perfect desk for the cabin but if you know Quinn Cabin, you know there is a LOT of knotty pine already. I’m thinking about painting the four drawers, as well as the simple emblems that were burned into the top center and in the center of the cross bar underneath. I was thinking green to tie in with the original pinch pleat curtains that are in the kitchen, dining, and record player area near the desk, and it’s also right outside the “green bedroom”. Never mind the rug under the desk. That’s going to go. What parts would YOU paint? HELP!
