You may have seen this epic video of Hog Canyon flashing near Kanab yesterday. Our guide, Seldom Seen was out doing what he does when he’s not working: he’s chasing storms and documenting them.

Yesterday afternoon a monsoon moved in that dropped nearly an inch of rain. Rain in the desert doesn’t really soak in to our sandstone or sand. It runs off to the lowest point. Sometimes that is washes, slot canyons or creeks.

This is a reminder that hiking with a guide adds an extra layer of safety for you. Our guides and office staff keep an eye on the weather and radar so every tour is safe. We know this area. We know the weather. And we know how quickly things can change.
