Yesterday at Riverfest members of the Belger-Wichita team had fun participating in Touch-A-Truck, where families got a free, hands-on experience with construction equipment, dumpster trucks, emergency vehicles, and Belger’s 110-ton Link-Belt hydraulic truck crane and Kenworth four-axle tractor truck.

Assistant division manager Larry Driscoll, crane operator Jason Summers, and oiler Trenton Johnson enjoyed raising kids into the equipment to explore, showing them how it works (including the air horn), and observing their expressions of curiosity and amazement. A big “thank you” to the Belger-Wichita crew for taking time to share their knowledge with a new generation.

We’re grateful to Wichita’s KAKE News for spotlighting Belger! June is National Safety Month, so we thought we’d share a photo of Larry Driscoll (center right in black jacket), Belger-Wichita’s Assistant Division Manager conducting a safety meeting with the crew on a winter construction project. Safety has always been a pillar in Belger’s value system, guiding our practices and ensuring the well-being of our team and customers for over a century. We sincerely appreciate our customers for entrusting us with their projects.

The crew on this project consisted of: Oklahoma City foreman Roy Martin Jr., Wichita crane operator Jason Summers, heavy haulers Jarrett Moore and John Parker, and riggers Hugo Castillo Jr. and Michael Kane. Photo provided by Wichita project manager Mike Dealy.

Pool season has started, and we can’t think of a better time to highlight a Belger-Wichita project involving the removal and replacement of pool humidifiers at an area YMCA. Because it had rained prior to project day, plating was placed on grassy areas where the crane was to set up to prevent damage to the lawn. The new humidifiers that were in storage at the Belger yard, were transported to the project site, and Belger’s 250-ton Link-Belt all-terrain crane was carefully navigated to swap out the old units with the new ones.

We thank our customer for calling on Belger and we congratulate the Belger-Wichita crew on the safe completion of this project: crane operator Jason Summers; drivers Michael Appleman, Jarrett Moore, John Parker; foreman Joe Cupich; ironworker Mark Childress; and oiler Shawn Hunt. Photo provided by project manager Mike Dealy.

Belger has hoisted, transported, and warehoused the most delicate sculptures to the heaviest industrial equipment for decades. Visit Belger.net for information about our services.

Happy Anniversary to IT Specialist Ray Johnson. For 11 years he’s been the epitome of cool, calm, and collected as he patiently helps Belger employees at all our division locations resolve technical issues.

His knowledge, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities are invaluable to Belger, and we thank him for his years of service and commitment to excellence. We appreciate the dedication of Ray and his fellow IT team members for supporting the company’s technology needs.

When he’s not at Belger, you may not recognize a helmeted Ray Johnson (pictured here) riding around town on his motorcycle.

Belger is proud to celebrate the women who work throughout the company. Women have been instrumental to the company’s establishment and success, dating back to Bertha Wilms Belger, whose nest egg helped husband and founder Richard Belger purchase the company’s first truck in 1919. Belger has grown and changed from a trucking company with a few cranes, to a crane and rigging company that performs specialized hauling services and provides warehousing. President Evelyn Craft Belger is the fourth-generation leader of Belger Cartage Service, Inc. and the first woman to hold the position. We are thankful to the dedication of the women and all members of Belger’s family of highly trained individuals who are committed to our customers and communities in which we work.

As 2024 comes to a close, we'd like to spotlight a project from October 2024 that got a lot of attention. The Belger-Wichita crew installed a Stearman Kaydet (pictured here) that was built in Wichita and used to train soldiers during World War II. The Kansas Aviation Museum had stored the classic Stearman airplane for years.

The plane was installed immediately after Belger-Wichita de-installed a 47-foot-tall mobile by Alexander Calder that had hung in the Ruffin Building in downtown Wichita for almost 50 years. Belger partnered with Trinity Sales and Rental who provided the special lift equipment needed for the deinstallation of the Calder mobile and the installation of the airplane.

When Kansas Aviation Museum President Ben Sauceda was asked by KSNW Wichita what the most difficult part of the project was, he said that it was figuring out how to fit the plane through the Ruffin Building’s doors. Belger is proud to have been part of the solution.

Many thanks to our customer for calling on Belger. Congratulations to the following Belger-Wichita crew members on safely completing this historic project: Foreman Joe Cupich (pictured here), heavy hauler Mike Appelman, ironworkers Mark Childress and Peter Ruble.

Visit Belger.net to learn more about our crane and rigging, specialized heavy hauling, machinery installation and warehousing services.
