Welcome to the longest day of the year and the start to summer!

The summer solstice takes place at approximately 3:50 pm central time. "Solstice" comes from the Latin words sol and sistere, meaning “Sun” and “to stand still”. What that means is that the sun has reached its northernmost point. From there, the daily path of the Sun across the sky begins to creep southward again.
