The prettiest resort on Instagram is not always the one you actually want to spend a week at. 😬

Because luxury is not just:
✨ marble lobbies
✨ trendy rooftop photos
✨ beige influencer decor

It’s also:

✔ smooth arrivals
✔ restaurants you can actually get into
✔ a layout that makes sense
✔ pool space that doesn’t feel like The Hunger Games by 7:12 a.m.
✔ service that feels EASY instead of chaotic

After walking through 235+ resorts, I can usually tell pretty quickly when a resort is designed well… and when it’s just really good at marketing itself online.

And unfortunately?
Those are not always the same thing.

That’s why “What’s the BEST resort?” is usually the wrong question.

The better question is:
“What resort fits THIS specific trip?”

Because the right resort for:
• a honeymoon
• a destination wedding
• a girls trip
• a multigenerational family vacation

…may all be completely different answers.

DM me “VACAY” if you want help narrowing down the overwhelming resort chaos on the internet. 🌴

Hear me out… not every guest has to come for your destination wedding to be incredible.

👈 follow + favorite for Mexico and Caribbean destination wedding tips

I think this is one of the hardest parts of destination wedding planning for a lot of couples.

The guilt.

The fear that someone will feel left out.

The pressure to make it work for every single person.

The worry that people will be disappointed if they cannot attend.

But destination weddings are different.

Not everyone will be able to make the trip.

And that does not mean you made the wrong decision.

It does not make your wedding less meaningful.
It does not make the celebration less special.
And it definitely does not mean you failed.

The people who are meant to be there will be there.

And the people who truly love you will still be excited for you, even if they cannot attend.

Your wedding is not measured by attendance.

It is measured by the experience, the memories, and the meaning behind it.

Hot take:

Nobody cares about your charger plates as much as the wedding industry wants you to think they do.

Your guests care about:

- whether the trip feels easy
- whether the food is good
- if the resort is fun
- whether they can get a drink without starting a new career in line standing

THAT is what people remember.

And this is why destination wedding resort selection matters so much.

A gorgeous resort that’s frustrating to navigate or poorly managed changes the entire energy of the weekend.

People remember how the experience felt.

Not just how it photographed.

No all-inclusive resort is perfect at everything.

A lot of travelers ask:

“What’s the best resort?”

But that’s usually the wrong question.

Every resort has trade-offs.

✨ Some have a gorgeous beach but smaller rooms.

✨ Some have amazing food but a quieter nightlife scene.

✨ Some have beautiful suites but a beach that is just okay.

✨ Some are perfect for families but not the right fit for a romantic adults-only trip.

That does not mean the resort is bad.

It means resort fit matters.

The better question is:

“What’s the best resort for this trip?”

That is where I come in.

I help match you to the resort that fits your priorities, travel style, and the kind of experience you actually want.

Not perfect.

Right for you.

5 destination wedding truths that change how you plan

👈 follow + favorite for Mexico and Caribbean destination wedding tips

If you’re planning a destination wedding at an all-inclusive resort, there are a few things that will change the way you look at the whole process.

Not in a scary way.

More like a “ohhhh, so this is why I feel overwhelmed” way.

✨ Your resort choice matters more than your color palette

The resort impacts the food, service, rooms, beach, guest experience, travel logistics, and overall wedding flow.

Your colors are cute.

The resort is doing the heavy lifting.

✨ “Free wedding package” does not mean free wedding

Most couples still invest in upgrades, private events, florals, decor, photography, and extras.

So please do not build your whole budget around the word “free.” That word is doing a lot of unpaid emotional labor.

✨ A bigger guest list does not always mean a better wedding

The goal is not to convince every person you know to come.

The goal is to create a celebration that feels meaningful, fun, and worth the trip for the people who do attend.

✨ Room blocks are not just about rooms

They affect deadlines, guest booking rules, perks, inventory, pricing, and sometimes who can attend wedding events.

Not glamorous. Very important.

✨ More resort options will not make this easier

A random list of 15 resorts usually creates more confusion, not clarity.

A curated short list is where the magic happens.

The big takeaway?

Destination wedding planning gets easier when you stop chasing every option and start making smart, experience-driven decisions.

3 things couples always underestimate about destination weddings.

👈 follow + favorite for Mexico and Caribbean destination wedding tips

✨ How much the resort impacts the overall wedding experience

✨ How quickly the best room categories and dates can disappear

✨ How overwhelming planning gets when you try to compare every resort on the internet

A lot of couples start planning thinking they just need a pretty beach and a wedding package.

But destination weddings are really about creating an experience.

The resort matters.
The guest experience matters.
The planning process matters.

And honestly?

The couples who have the smoothest planning experience are usually the ones who stop trying to figure everything out alone.

DM READY if you want help narrowing down the right destination wedding resorts for your vision, priorities, and guests.

It took me years to realize this about destination weddings:

You can care deeply about your guests without building the entire wedding around the most price-sensitive person on the guest list.

👈 follow + favorite for Mexico and Caribbean destination wedding tips

Let me be clear: guest experience matters.

A lot.

I want your guests to feel taken care of.
I want the travel process to make sense.
I want the resort to feel worth the trip.
I want people to arrive excited, relaxed, and glad they came.

But that does not mean your whole wedding has to be planned around the cheapest possible resort.

There is a big difference between being considerate and watering down the experience.

Being considerate looks like:
✨ Choosing a resort that feels worth the investment
✨ Thinking through the guest experience from arrival to checkout
✨ Making sure the food, service, rooms, and beach are strong
✨ Understanding travel logistics before recommending a destination
✨ Communicating clearly so guests know what to expect

Watering it down looks like:
✨ Picking the cheapest resort even though it does not match your vision
✨ Ignoring food, service, and room quality because the price looks easier
✨ Choosing a property that feels underwhelming just to avoid hard conversations
✨ Letting one or two loud opinions steer the entire wedding decision

And honestly?

Not every guest has to come for it to be the right wedding.

The goal is not to make the trip work for every single person at any cost.

The goal is to create a wedding experience that feels aligned, intentional, and worth traveling for.

That is why I help couples choose resorts based on fit — not just price.

Because your guests may forget the exact flowers, but they will remember the resort, the food, the service, and how the weekend felt.

Out of office ✈️🇲🇽

Currently bouncing between resorts in Riviera Maya, Cancun, and Costa Mujeres doing what I do best:

✔ touring rooms
✔ stalking wedding venues
✔ inspecting beach setups
✔ aggressively researching margaritas in the name of client experience

Over the next few days, I’ll be checking out 14 resorts — including:
🌴 Hotel Xcaret Arte
✨ the recently renovated Secrets Playa Mujeres & Hyatt Zilara Cancun
🆕 the brand new Majestic Mirage and Ocean Allure
🍹 and so much more

Because not all “luxury” resorts are created equal. And I’m not about to send my clients somewhere just because the Instagram photos looked pretty.

I’ll be gathering the real scoop, spotting the red flags, and finding the resorts actually worth your vacation days (and wedding budget).

So if response times are a little slower this week… I’m probably on a site tour, testing poolside tacos, or pretending “just one more property” is a normal sentence. 😅

See you back stateside with a camera roll full of resort content and approximately 47 opinions.
