Kansas City, Kansas, is celebrating its first-ever Black Restaurant Week Sept. 7-13, leading up to 913 Day on Sept. 13. 🍽️

Eleven Black-owned restaurants across Wyandotte County are participating, giving locals and visitors a chance to discover new places, revisit familiar spots, and experience the flavors of KCK. Select restaurants will offer $9.13 specials in honor of 913 Day.

⚔️ Hear ye, hear ye… The gates to the The Kansas City Renaissance Festival open this weekend!

Seven themed weekends, jousting knights, live entertainment, artisan shopping, festival food and more make the Kansas City Renaissance Festival a fall tradition worth experiencing. And this year, the festival is celebrating its 50th season.

Opening weekend, Sept. 5-7, brings Buccaneers and Ballgowns to the festival grounds in Bonner Springs. Think pirates, royalty, mermaids, jousting knights and turkey legs calling your name. Costumes are welcome, but not required.

With a different theme each weekend through Oct. 18, there’s always something new to discover, from Viking Invasion and Celtic Celebration to Barktoberfest and Haunted Huzzah.

Make a day of it and experience one of the Kansas City area’s longtime fall traditions.

The KCK BBQ Trail is celebrating its first anniversary after drawing more than 1,700 pass downloads and 850 check-ins at barbecue spots across Wyandotte County since its September 2025 launch.

The free, self-guided trail features 12 BBQ restaurants plus two bonus stops, giving locals and visitors a way to explore Kansas City, Kansas, one plate at a time.

Anyone who completes five stops by September 1 will be invited to the September 17 anniversary celebration and entered for a chance to win a prize package worth more than $1,000, including a Napoleon three-burner grill and an at-home BBQ kit.

The mobile-friendly trail also offers additional BBQ-themed prizes and encourages participants to discover local restaurants and neighborhoods throughout KCK.
