BARKING SANDS — Green sea turtles hatched from a nest on the shore fronting the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands, near Kekaha, on the evening of Sept. 2.

Hawaii governor announced visitors can opt out of 14-day quarantine if they can "show proof that they had a negative molecular-based COVID-19 test result within a certain time period of their departure". Time period is 72 hours. This is effective August 1.

If you noticed, I changed the name of this page. I needed to do it because I have mistakenly given a lot of people the impression I have something to do with running the resort. I wish. I love the place, but my wife and I only own one condo in the resort. I keep track of activities, and we vacation there every year, but we don't live there. We do rent it out, so if you want to rent our condo, send me a message. We have been going there every year since 2007, so we know a little about the resort and about the area. I can probably find links to other people who own or manage condos there, so feel free to ask.

Monk seals appear on Kauai beaches, as well. So if you have a dog, keep them away.

KAILUA-KONA — There did not appear to be any injuries among a group of Hawaiian monk seals after one of the animals was chased by unleashed dogs on the Big Island, officials said.

Kealia's long stretch of white sand beach is a great spot for beach strolling and whale watching during the winter months. The coastal Path runs along here.
