Please continue to be patient with us as we work through ongoing communication challenges. We see your messages, and rest assured that all cancellation and refund requests will be honored.

At this time, we cannot provide an estimated reopening date or predict how long it will take to safely clear and restore the trail. Any future bookings will remain dependent on the condition of the park and approval from the State to resume operations.

The State is working rapidly to restore essential infrastructure across Kauaʻi. Electricity, water, communication lines, and roadways have been the first priorities, and approximately 25% of the island remains without basic necessities.

As a community, we are outside working alongside our families, friends, and neighbors to restore some sense of safety and normalcy—though we recognize that, for some, life may never feel quite the same.

Throughout the past week, we have had to travel to areas with service simply to access our phones and booking systems. Today, we finally regained full access and are steadily working through every message.

Please know that your inquiry has not been forgotten. Every message will be answered, and every cancellation or refund request will be handled. We are incredibly grateful for your patience, compassion, and understanding while our island begins to recover.

Our beautiful Wailua River State Park has been devastated. Seeing this sacred place nearly unrecognizable—massive trees uprooted, the river corridor blocked, and the trail buried beneath the destruction—is absolutely heartbreaking.

Kayak Adventures will not be operating until the park is reopened and it is truly safe for our guides and guests to return.

We are incredibly grateful that all of our guides and staff are safe and that none of us lost our homes. But we have all been heavily affected, and our entire community is hurting. Right now, Kauaʻi needs a break. Our island needs time to recover, rebuild, and heal.

We love you all, and we cannot wait for the day we can safely welcome you back to the Wailua River. Until then, please keep Kauaʻi and our community in your prayers.

God has His hand over us. 🤍🙏🏽

OPERATIONS HALTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Kayak Adventures has suspended all operations until further notice. We expect to resume tours once the State Parks reopen, but that timeline will be determined by the State.

As soon as we are permitted to return, our crews will be working to assess conditions and prepare the area for safe operations. For now, our community’s focus is on our families, our homes, and recovering from the storm. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.

Communication is extremely limited, as many residents remain without water or electricity and cell service is unreliable. If you need assistance and cannot reach us immediately, please:

This is why it’s so good to paddle with a local guide. 🌧️🛶

At 7:30 this morning, the forecast said light rain and the river gauge was still low—but it was pouring in Wailua and up in the mountains. With such a rainy season the ground is saturated and we know flash floods happen even on sunny days.

We made the last-minute call to cancel based on what was actually happening in real time today.
We are very sorry to disappoint our guests this morning. We know you plan your time so carefully on island.

From the 7:15 to 10:15am , the river had jumped from 54 to 375 cfs!!!!!
That is a flood and we hope no paddlers got caught out there this morning!

Sometimes the best guiding decision we can make is knowing when not to go. 🤙🏽

🌧️ Aloha from Wailua! 🌈
It's a rainy morning on the east side, but as every local knows, rainy days in Wailua often come with some of the most beautiful views—and a rainbow or two if you're lucky. 🌴✨

We're closely monitoring river conditions throughout the day and will always put safety first when making tour decisions. While a little rain doesn't stop the adventure, guest safety is our top priority.

For now, we're enjoying the lush green valleys, dramatic skies, and the reminder that Kauai is at its most beautiful after a little rain. 💚
