Kayak Adventures

Kayak Adventures Kauai’s Premier Wailua River/Secret Falls Kayaking Tour since 1996! Paddle past Kamokila Hawaiian Village where the movie Outbreak was filmed.

Your Kauai kayak tour begins with an inspiring 2-mile paddle along the tropical waterways of the Wailua River with the safety and expertise of your guide. From here we will bank our kayaks and begin our 1 mile journey through the tropical rainforest which was once reserved for Hawaiian royalty. The tropical rain-forest is a very sacred and special place to the Hawaiian people -- and we would like

to share it with you! Along the hike, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will show you ancient Hawaiian sites and will point out the various flora and fauna along the way. In addition to the vast history of the Wailua Valley, your guide will show you remains where the first Hawaiians lived in the area 1,500 years ago. The grand finale is a short hike to the beautiful 125ft. Uluwehi Falls (Secret Falls) where you can take pictures, swim, play under the waterfall and enjoy a deli lunch. Perfect for Family Fun!

Aloha from Kauaʻi 🌴 Wailua Marina

Even on cloudy days, the island still knows how to show off. 🌺⛰️

We're keeping an eye on the weather and river conditions, but views like this remind us why we love calling this place home.

Good morning Wailua!

We've had a few questions about why we canceled tours today, so we wanted to share the data.

The Wailua River gauge reached 194 cubic feet per second today, a dramatic increase from normal conditions of around 30 cubic feet per second. While the river may not always look dangerous from a single viewpoint, rising water upstream affects river current, trail crossings, water quality, and overall safety throughout the route to Secret Falls.

As guides, we monitor river conditions continuously—not just the weather outside our window. When conditions reach levels where we can't confidently provide a safe and enjoyable experience, we cancel. Even if it’s last minute. Real time decisions are made to avoid real time emergencies.

The river has finally begun to recede this afternoon, but today's graph shows exactly why we made the decision we did.

We know cancellations can be frustrating, especially when you're on vacation, but we'd rather disappoint someone with a refund than put guests or guides in an unsafe situation.

Mahalo for your understanding and for trusting us to make the right call when Mother Nature has other plans. 🌧️🌿🚣

🌧️ Due to high river levels and poor water quality from recent rain, tours are cancelled today for safety reasons. The Wailua River is currently very brown and conditions are not safe for kayaking or hiking.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding while we continue monitoring conditions closely. Safety always comes first for our guests and guides.
Hoping for clearer skies and cleaner water soon 🤙

The river is definitely awake this weekend 🌧️🌿
After steady rain Friday and Saturday, Wailua River levels are running higher than normal and we are carefully monitoring conditions throughout Mother’s Day weekend.
Kauai weather can change quickly, and safety decisions are always made conservatively for both our guests and guides.
We’ll continue posting river and trail condition updates here moving forward 🤙
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there from the Kayak Adventures ohana 💚
