Excuse Me… Coming Through

Part II of my morning hike along the trails of the old Kapalua Village Course.

After following the old cart paths through what is now a completely reclaimed landscape of trees and tall grasses, I finally made it to the duck pond at the top.

Apparently, I arrived during rush hour.

The golf course may be long gone, but the pond is still here, and clearly the ducks have taken over.

There’s Nothing Like Starting the Day With a Good Workout

Hard to believe this was once part of the old Kapalua Village Golf Course.

Today, the old cart paths have become some of my favorite trails to walk. What used to be fairways and greens is now completely surrounded by lush vegetation, tall grasses and trees. If you didn’t know the history, you would never imagine a golf course was once here.

The climb eventually brings you to the old duck pond, which is still there, and makes for a great loop before heading back down.

A little bit of Kapalua history reclaimed by nature, and a fantastic way to start the morning.

If You’ve Been Here, You Know This Spot…

Tucked away along the lawn at Kapalua Bay is this little tunnel through the sea hibiscus. Walk through it and you’ll find a couple of benches waiting on the other side, with one of the best views of the bay.

One of those little Kapalua spots you could easily walk right past without ever knowing what was hiding inside.

Napili Bay at Sunset 🌅

When we’re not at Kapalua Bay, Napili Bay is one of our favorite beaches to walk to and spend a little time. Just down the coast from Kapalua, it’s hard to beat an evening like this.

From the overlook above Honolua Bay, it’s easy to see why the catamarans bring snorkelers to this spot. Clear water, protected conditions, and one of Maui’s most popular reef systems.
