This past week was the week I have been looking forward to & also dreading for a year. How could I dread a trip to Greece 🇬🇷 you ask? Read below to find out. 👇
From the day I left for Greece to the day I returned, I had 96 guests traveling in other destinations, & 91 of those were traveling internationally within those 7 days. 🌎 I guess I could also count those other 5 people going to Epcot as international too 🤣.
I am never on a full vacation where I can’t be reached & I am always available to my guests while they are traveling, even if I am also traveling. If your Travel Advisor is unavailable to you when traveling or doesn’t give you someone else to contact to help you, it’s time to find another one. ✅
I was so nervous that there would be a travel emergency for one or more of my guests while I was in Greece. Because of the 8 hour time difference, I was so worried I would be asleep 😴 when a guests I had traveling needed me. Otherwise I had my phone out & checking it all day every day while there & bought the WiFi package on the flights in case anyone needed something from me.
WHAT YOU SAW WAS 👀
- beautiful scenery, a lot of smiles, lifetime memories
WHAT YOU DIDN’T SEE WAS 💻
- the anxiety I’ve been carrying for a year knowing I would have so many people traveling this week while I was on the other side of the world
- my world clock that had all of the current times where I had guests traveling
- limited European plugs in the rooms to charge my computer, phone, and portable chargers & most of the time they weren’t near my bed as you can see
- staying up late & getting up early to check messages from guests & get them what they needed
- me on the phone while in these beautiful destinations updating itineraries & checking in with guests I had traveling, to the point that my phone & portable chargers died daily & I had to find ways to charge it
I am THRILLED to report that all of my international guests have returned & are back in the USA 🇺🇸.
Being a Travel Advisor can be a fun career, but it also comes with an incredible amount of responsibility & accountability. It can carry a heavy weight, even when we are traveling ourselves on vacation.
