If we broke down I’m pretty sure the kids would push our rig across the US to get home. We stopped at a free parking lot overnight (it fit us, yay!) and went to the Archway Museum. It was so well done - describing the history of a place where natural beauties, buffalo, pioneers, religious settlers, interstates and vacationers have crossed for the past few centuries. We even stayed to watch the Ken Burns documentary for over an hour about the first man to drive across the US. I definitely sympathized with him. @ Archway Museum Kearney Ne

Mesa Verde National Park. We toured 3 dwellings (Balcony, Cliff Palace and Long House), and then I chose to take everyone on the Petroglyph Point 2.5 mile strenuous hike. We don’t have carried babies anymore so we could do everything! At Cliff Palace E had a potty emergency and I’ve never seen a 5 year old climb ladders and run up steps so quickly. My lungs were burning trying to keep up with her. We also had an incredible ranger that taught us a ton about into Native American traditions/history/spirituality. There are over 2,000 dwellings and it is just incredible to imagine climbing up and down into the homes. The average lifespan for women was 35 and men was 40-45. I’d already be dead so aches and pains wouldn’t be an issue climbing. But how on earth did the toddlers and babies stay safe??!

Another highlight was staying in the National Forest for free and avoiding crowded, ugly expensive RV parks. 🙌🏻

Violet’s ONE request for a destination this year was Four Corners National Monument. We blessed her with this brown, hot desert day, fry bread, a snow cone and a necklace.
