With over 20 years experience on the Hawaiian waters, Captain Koa was born and raised on the beautiful island of Kauai. We’re happy to share that the State of Hawaiʻi has reopened Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor beginning September 25, and Komohana Charters will be ready to resume tours September 26!

We are incredibly excited and grateful to get back out on the water, support our family and crew, and once again be part of the network of locally owned small businesses that keep our community strong.

At the same time, recovery is still ongoing in parts of Kauaʻi. We encourage visitors to do a little research before their trip, be mindful of areas that are still healing, and continue to show patience and respect for our island and its communities.

There is a balance between supporting recovery and supporting the local families and businesses that rely on visitors for their livelihood. We’re grateful to be moving forward while respecting that healing is still taking place.

We couldn’t be happier to have Beck as part of Komohana. She fits right in with everything we want our company to represent — fun, knowledgeable, safety-minded, and someone who truly loves being out on the water and sharing Kauaʻi with our guests.

Career Day with some of our favorite future leaders 🌊

Work doesn’t have to feel like “work.” It can be passion, purpose, adventure — and still make a living.

We loved talking story about life as a captain along the Nā Pali Coast and what it takes to build a business right here at home. Our hope is that these keiki see that meaningful careers exist on island — careers that support their families, care for the ocean, and help preserve the culture and beauty that make Hawaiʻi so special.

As it becomes harder for local families to stay, it’s more important than ever that our kids know there is opportunity here.

The future of Hawaiʻi is sitting in those classrooms. And we’re rooting for every one of them. 🤙🏽🌺 ☀️
