Lilacs grow really well on Kelleys Island. You will find them all over the island, in numerous shades of purples, pinks and white. There is even a designated lilac trail that is maintained by Kelleys Island State Park. The dark purple lilac shown is in the backyard of Beach Glass Cottage.

July full moon, known as the Buck Moon, rising over Lake Erie. We watched the moon rise from the beach at the Scheele Preserve.

We took the JetExpress to PIB for a day last week while we were on Kelleys Island. We visited Perry’s Monument, Perry’s Cave, the Butterfly House, Crystal Cave, and had a friendly game of putt-putt. I was also able to have a too-short visit with a dear friend who lives on South Bass Island.
