Happy Friday Mount St. Helens fans! We hope you've had a great start to your 2026! This week was mild, but it looks like it's about to get wild with a storm system moving in and slated to bring winter weather back to the region. Scroll down for a little conditions report and projections for the weekend to help you make your plans!
Friday 1/2 - Forecasts expect rain turning to snow above 6,000' with winds ~25 mph and summit temperature ~28 F. Fog and whiteout conditions likely present. Avalanche Hazard is Moderate (Yellow).
Saturday 1/3 - High winds 35+ mph projected, with a summit high of 23 F. Rain likely lower on the mountain, changing to snow higher up with likely fog and whiteout conditions. Avalanche Hazard is Moderate (Yellow).
Sunday 1/4 - Continuing high winds of about 30-45 mph with a summit high temperature of 19 F. Expected heavy rain low changing to heavy snow higher on the mountain with fog and whiteout conditions present. Avalanche Hazard rating is likely to increase.
Monday 1/5 - 16 F summit temperature with 20 mph winds, fog, and light snow. Avalanche Hazard rating may be elevated.
Tuesday 1/6 and onward: The storm settles in bringing colder temperatures, high winds, and heavy snow with likely increased Avalanche Hazard rating.
