Tying up a few “loose ends” and getting everything ready to rock on this windy day.

Spent some time rigging up mag divers and making sure the spread is dialed in for the next trip. We don't cut corners when it comes to tackle—every setup gets quality components we trust on the water.

Second trip aboard for this crew after fishing with us around the same time last season — and after another action-packed day on Lake Ontario, they’re already talking about next year! Last trip set the bar high, but today definitely delivered again.
The morning started fast and furious with rods firing early in 80–120 feet of water, but after a hot start we slid a little too far east and got away from the better class of fish. Once we made the move back west and followed the fish out deeper as the sun got higher, it was game on again the rest of the trip, with most of our later bites coming in 175–180 feet.
By the end of the day we had around 18 fish to the boat with a handful more lost along the way. The mixed bag made for an awesome day — kings, cohos, lakers, 2 Atlantics, and a steelhead all hit the deck. We were only a brown trout away from completing the full Lake Ontario Super Slam!
Rigged Cut Bait was absolutely the star of the show today, especially on our 63 rigger early (which became our 73 later in the morning). We also picked away steadily on our 10 and 8 colors along with high riggers pulling spoons.
All fish were released healthy, so we kept things moving and got them back in the water quick. Awesome group, awesome fishing, and another reminder of just how special this fishery can be.

🔥 First trip of the year was a success! 🔥
Lake Ontario showed up today and the fish were READY. We found our best action in 80–100 FOW and they were crushing everything we put in front of them — spoons, stickbaits, and of course Rigged Cut Bait. 🎣
20 fish in a quick trip and we slid back to the dock just before the weather moved in. Doesn’t get much better than that for an early season shake down!
The season is officially underway. Let’s go catch some kings! 👊

The boat is in the water and we’re getting dialed in for the season.

Still plenty to do before we’re running full tilt—but the calendar is officially OPEN.

Lines get beat up quick — teeth, net rub, tangles, you name it. Don’t wait for a break-off to find out your spool’s shot. When it’s time to strip it down, I always go back with Vicious Fishing Pro Elite Fluorocarbon. Tough, invisible, and flat-out reliable when it counts.
Respools aren’t cheap, but losing that fish you’ve been grinding for? Way more expensive.

🏆 Sandy Creek Shootout Recap – 2nd Place for Team Rigged! 🏆

An awesome day on Lake Ontario for the 2025 Sandy Creek Shootout! Team Rigged proudly took home 2nd place in a field full of talented teams. Huge congratulations to Team Legacy on their well-earned win — you guys fished a great tournament!

We found consistent action fishing 100–200 feet off Devil’s Nose, with a few key setups doing the heavy lifting. The 300 weighted steel with a chrome flasher was hot on big fish.

Our downrigger program stayed busy too:
🎯 81’ rigger with a Gold DW Greasy Chicken (standard size)
🎯 65’ rigger with a Gold Seasick Waddler (standard spoon)

Later in the day, we marked a tight group of deep fish and dropped a rigger to 155 feet with a Dragon Slayer Spin Doctor pulling a meat rig loaded with Rigged Cut Bait — and sure enough, we pulled a few solid bites from the depths. Gotta love when the graph tells a story and the rods follow through!

Big thanks to the tournament organizers and all the teams that make this event special. We’ll be back next year ready to roll.
