It is not unusual to hear heavy footsteps walking on the stage at our theater. Many times I have been alone and am in the Green Room setting up for a band when I hear the sound of someone walking across the stage. The sound stops outside the Green room and sometimes I can see the light in the doorway be disturbed by shadow.
I usually just say HI and let the curious Spector know what band will be playing.
But, something a little more unexpected happened last week. As I walked toward the stage I could hear the footsteps and then a pair of men’s shoes materialized and I watched them walk across the stage!
I just started laughing and said “Good One!”
I am not exactly sure who this was but my theory is that it was Woody!
I have spoken to many people over the years that worked with him at the theater. Most tell me Woody loved to joke around. Sometimes hiding and then saying BOO! Or, making frog sounds as he quietly came up behind someone.
So, shoes on the stage seems like it has that fun feel!
