We are proud to be a part of this lovely Florida State Park. Concession services within the park are provided by Coral Reef Park Company, Inc. The concession offers a variety of activities designed to make your visit to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park both enjoyable and memorable. From glass bottom boat tours to snorkel and dive trips, young and old alike can marvel at the breath taking beaut

y of natures own "underwater garden." Of particular interest is the park's glass bottom tour boat, Spirit of Pennekamp, placed into operation in the spring of 1999. This high speed, stable, air-conditioned catamaran offers a reef viewing experience never before possible. The concession also offers motor boat, canoe, and kayak rentals for exploring on your own. If you've ever thought about SCUBA diving, check out the Dive Shop, a PADI 5-star facility, where you can receive instruction on becoming a fully certified diver. Times:
Snorkeling Tours: 9:00am / 12:00pm / 3:00pm
Glass Bottom Boat Tours: 9:15am / 12:15pm / 3:15pm
Dive Tours: 9:00am / 1:30pm
Kayaks, Canoes, and Equipment: 8:00am-3:45pm
Power Boat Rentals: Available for 'Full Day' or 'Half Day(4hrs)' Rental

Visiting the 3rd largest coral reef in the world – right here in Florida! Drove down to Key Largo to board this glass bottom boat. Even spotted a sea turtle while only getting a little bit seasick. ⁣

🛥 At John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, we boarded this high-speed catamaran who took us out to the reef in a 2.5 hour long tour. The waves can make the experience kinda rocky, so you might want to take advantage of those sea sickness pills they sell for $1. Even I did get a little dizzy.⁣

🔎 The glass bottom is shaped to magnify the reef view. So we were able to spot a sea turtle and many fish friends! I was a little surprised the corals not being as colorful as you imagine it. Apparently, those brighter reefs only exist in and near Australia. It’s still so so beautiful. ⁣
⁣
🤿 If you’re a scuba diver, this is also where you can find the Christ of the Abyss statue. That submerged Jesus looks awesome. Someday, I’ll visit him.⁣”

This belongs to the Spotted Eagle Ray! Enjoy these fun facts from Oceana.org:

1. Spotted eagle rays grow to a maximum length of 16.4 feet (5 m), including the tail, and 507 pounds (230 kg). Their wingspan reaches a maximum width of 9.8 feet (3 m) from tip to tip.
2. Spotted eagle rays can be found from the surface to just over 196 feet (60 m) deep.
3. Spotted eagle rays can leap their entire bodies out of the water while swimming close to the surface.
4. Spotted eagle rays have venomous spines on their tails that are used in defense against threats.
5. Spotted eagle rays have plate-like teeth used to crush their preferred prey, including clams, oysters, sea urchins and shrimp.
