One thing about us, we usually NEVER pay extra for specialty dining on cruises because there is already so much included food onboard. 🍽️😂

But this cruise, we decided to finally try IL VIAGGIO aboard one of Carnival’s Italian-themed ships… and it was such a fun experience! 🇮🇹✨

The service was wonderful and the food was SO good. They even surprised us with a few complimentary items during dinner which made the experience feel even more special.

One of the coolest parts was that the menu was inspired by dishes from different areas of Europe and listed where each item was known for. It really felt like a little culinary journey while at sea. 🌍🚢

My personal favorites?
🧀 The cheesy bread
🍮 The cannolis

🌴 Isla Tropicale, Roatan 🌴

Carnival’s private destination in Roatan recently reopened after multi-million-dollar enhancements, and I have to say—they did an amazing job!

The updates include:

🏊 An upgraded pool
🍹 A swim-up bar
☀️ Refreshed guest areas perfect for spending the day relaxing

If relaxing at the beach isn’t your style, we also have a trusted local tour guide we’ve personally used several times. They offer excursions with transportation included, making it easy to explore more of Roatan while supporting a local business.

Whether you want a relaxing beach day or an adventure around the island, Roatan has something for everyone!

My favorite pre-cruise stay in Galveston? Easy… The Tremont House! 🛳️🌊

If you’re sailing out of Galveston, I can’t recommend this hotel enough. I love the beautiful historic charm, comfortable rooms, and unbeatable location right in the heart of the Strand Historic District. It’s within walking distance of amazing restaurants, shops, and local attractions, making it the perfect place to start your vacation a day early. The hotel is also just minutes from the cruise terminals and even offers a Park & Sail package for many cruisers.

Starting your cruise vacation a day early helps take the stress out of travel and lets you begin your trip feeling relaxed instead of rushed.

If Alaska is on your list (and it should be 😍), here are some of my go-to tips to help you cruise smarter, stay comfortable, and make the most of every moment:

• Bring a curtain clip, those long daylight hours are amazing… until you’re trying to sleep 😅
• Magnetic hooks = instant extra storage
• Skipping the drink package? Toss in some drink packets for easy savings

Pro tips for a smooth (and cozy) experience:

• Think layers over bulky outfits, Alaska weather loves to keep you guessing
• A waterproof jacket is a MUST (trust me, way better than an umbrella)
• Binoculars = next-level glacier views + wildlife spotting
• Download your cruise app before boarding, it makes everything easier onboard
• Even if you “don’t get seasick”… pack something just in case
• Small backpack for excursions = hands-free exploring
• Portable charger for those long, adventure-filled days
• Reusable water bottle to stay hydrated on the go
• Bring small bills for tips + local finds in port
• Book excursions early, Alaska is one destination that does sell out
• Set those alarms on glacier days, the early views are unreal
• Pack a laundry bag or collapsible hamper to keep your cabin organized
• Yes, sunscreen still matters here!

Alaska is one of those bucket list trips that truly lives up to the hype… and then some 🏔️

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Today, we are boarding one of my favorite Excel Class ships to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Whether you’re spending the day at the lake, enjoying a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, traveling with family, or setting sail on your next adventure, I hope your day is filled with fun, memories, and appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy.

As for us, we’re kicking off Independence Day with ocean views and a week of exploring all that this incredible ship has to offer. ❤️🤍💙

🔥 Bonsai Teppanyaki 🔥

If there’s one specialty restaurant I already know I’ll be going back to, it’s Bonsai Teppanyaki!

I absolutely LOVE hibachi, so getting dinner and a show while at sea made this such a fun experience. The chefs were entertaining, the food was incredible, and the whole atmosphere made it one of our favorite meals onboard. 🍤🍚🥢

Safe to say… we’ll be seeing you again in July!

Research trip announcement! 🛳️🌊

This July, Southern Travel with Kaylee will be sailing aboard Carnival’s beautiful Excel-class ship again to gain firsthand experience with additional cabin categories and the perks that come with them. One of the best ways I can help my clients choose the right vacation is by personally experiencing the options available.

I’ll also be visiting Carnival’s newly transformed private destination in Roatán, which is being reimagined from Mahogany Bay into Isla Tropicale. I’m excited to see the updates firsthand so I can provide current recommendations, tips, and insights for future travelers. ⚓️☀️

The views in St. Thomas were absolutely stunning and we cannot wait to explore more of the US Virgin Islands! 🇻🇮🌴☀️

We spent most of our day relaxing at a beautiful public beach, then stopped at one of the famous overlooks on our way back to the ship. I think that ended up being one of our favorite parts of the entire day. The views didn’t even look real! 💙

Fun fact: St. Thomas is home to one of the busiest cruise ports in the Caribbean and is known for having some of the most breathtaking scenic overlooks
