If you are looking for a pretty, well appointed cottage with all the amenities, complemented by large extended outdoor living space on the lanai, then this is the place for you. The two acres of well manicured, organic, private gardens bring your close to nature. As soon as you arrive at Hale Kokio you will see that you are on your own piece of paradise. Palms trees and hibiscus line your approach to the cottage. The grounds are punctuated with varieties of flowering plants and fruit trees. Lounge chairs are placed in the shade of the monkey pod trees. A lily garden welcomes you at the front entrance to the cottage. Hale Kokio invites easy living. Your cottage, decorated in the soft colors of Hawaii opens to the lanai. The large covered lanai is outfitted with a hot tub, lounge chairs and dining set, creating an outdoor living space. The full kitchen is well equipped for the chef and a gas grill is in the side yard. The full bath, bedroom and living space are surrounded by windows creating a bright and airy space. And yes, a smart TV and cozy sofa are in the living room. The loft is a bonus space for reading, relaxing or for those who must work, a place for you (Hopefilly not often). High speed internet,wifi, cable services and a collection of books are provided. The cottage is raised, five steps up, so the trade winds flow through. Hale Kokio is surrounded by the majesty of North Shore Kauai. Three quiet beaches, within a few minutes drive, Pila'a, Rock Quarry and Kalihiwai offer a trail, a river or great surf where you can kayak, surf or paddle. A secluded beach is just a mile away where many of our guests start the day watching the sunrise. The Wai Ka Loop hiking trail loop is within ten minutes. Our charming town of Kilauea is five minutes away. You will find the Kilauea Bakery and courtyard, take out or groceries at the Healthy Hut, two farmers markets a week, even a gas station. A new shopping village is scheduled to open in 2017. Landmark points are the Kilauea Lighthouse and historic lava rock church and Historic Kong Lung Market Center with unique shops. All North Shore activities are within 15 miles, taking you all the way to Ke'e beach, as far north as you can drive. You will drive through the areas of Kilauea, Princeville, Hanalei then Haena. The scenaryincludes the one way bridges, mountains, waterfalls, lookout points. You will pass the Anini, Hanalei, Lumahai and Tunnels beaches. All of this within fifteen miles from Hale Kokio. We are known for taking special care of our visitors. This begins with a simple reservation process that includes an introduction to Kauai and its customs.
