Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland

Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland Founded in 1958, the Amateur Jousting club is promoteing the Maryland state sport of Ring Jousting. Over 700 members have joined our organization.

History: In August of 1958, it was realized by four very enthusiastic Jousters, that a Club had to be formed to encourage the Amateur Rider. With the fun of Jousting as its major foundation, John Billingslea, Pete Kahl, Bob Six, and Dick Slade, met at the Big Ol’White House in Fallston, Maryland to establish the ideas and plans of what was to become the Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland. In the past 80 years of its existence, The Amateur Jousting Club has presented well over 1,000 Jousting Tournaments and Exhibitions throughout the State of Maryland. The Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland is deeply indebted to these four people, for not only giving us the opportunity to experience the fun of the Sport, but also for the many friendships we have established with our co-members and the spectators who have come to witness this Sport throughout these Past 80 Years!

Jousters and friends of the club. We need to add some stone dust to our track before the championship. So some of us are meeting this Saturday September 12th at 8 am to use our many talents to improve the surface for the horses. Join us if you can and bring shovels, rakes, wheel barrows etc. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations to all the riders at the Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland Founder's Day and Jerusalem Mill double header tournament. Great sportsmanship and competition was displayed by all! Thank you to all the people who make it all come together especially the volunteers who hang rings for two consecutive tournaments and who announce all day! Or the wonderful people who show up the day before and mow the field and trim... you are the best! You know who you are. Enjoy these photos! I sure enjoyed capturing the action.
