Capitol 250: NC Freedom Fest Presented by DNCR

Experience the best of North Carolina at the North Carolina State Capitol in Raleigh on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, all-day festival brings together the arts, history, nature, and culture that highlight North Carolina’s role in our nation’s story. The 250th Anniversary of our great nation is upon us, and many aspects of our history we may not know.

For example, the American flag has changed many times over the years. Have you ever wondered what our very first flag looked like, and how and why it changed during American Revolution?

Gary Gillette (President, New Bern Chapter), Bob Ainsley (Past President), and Scott Brick (Chapter Color Guard Commander) of the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will display and share some of the exciting history behind our flag, as well as other interesting information, during their presentation on June 8th at 4:30 pm.
