***Some things can be accomplished easily in ten years that can't be accomplished at all in one year.***
This is one of my favorite concepts and one of the principles that guides my business. So many of the really important goals in my life and business are things that just take time. When I set out to start my own business, I knew that it would take time to grow it to be what I envisioned.
(Yes, the types of goals I'm talking about take more than just time too. They take consistent effort, a vision, willingness to try all applied over time. But some goals become so much easier if you give them the right time frame.)
Establishing a good reputation... this is not something that happens overnight.
Building a good client base... not something that happens in a short period of time.
Establishing good routines, policies, practices, & figuring out what works for your business... not something that happens right away.
Becoming somebody with experience... no way to get there without putting in the time.
Some things can be accomplished in a short period of time and something like a 30-day challenge can have it's uses to create motivation and quick progress. Long term goals for business, parenting, health and finances might not seem flashy, but really amazing things happen when you stick to something for a longer time frame.
And some times, you don't have to put in a lot of effort every day to make long-term progress in these areas. One thing that I have found is that sometimes doing things to change the direction I'm going in these areas means that I'm doing small things differently each day that adds up to big differences over time.
For example, at times in my life, I've gotten really interested in personal finance. I've gone through periods when I've taken the time to learn things online, read books, and setup better systems for myself. At other times, things go on autopilot, but if I've made little changes that are better habits, and those add up to big differences over long periods of time.
Many goals just need the right time frame to become possible or easier.
