WE HAVE “EVOLVED!”

After a lot of thought and planning, we are so thrilled to announce that Against the Grain is now available to book through up to 10 booking sites through the Evolve platform. Exposure is everything in running a business, including rental properties, so with this change we hope to see more families enjoying our home!

That being said, we have VERY limited summer availability left. Book ASAP to reserve your stay for June 9th-19th, August 18th-September 6th (3-night minimum stay).🗓️

Welcome to Against the Grain, our “pearl” of a home in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina!🦪

Now that our Facebook is established, and our AirBnb is updated we wanted to officially introduce ourselves! Against the Grain is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom vacation home just 140 steps from the beach. This home boasts direct ocean views, a hot tub, and more!

We were truly blessed to have the opportunity to purchase this home in the Fall of 2024. Over the past five years, our family has faced significant loss, health struggles, and various life challenges. While these experiences were painful, they served as a powerful wake-up call—it’s time to truly LIVE! Live each day, each moment, as if it could be your last. God gives us purpose, dreams, and hopes, but the world often tells us to live like everyone else: grinding away, day by day, saving for an elusive ‘someday.’ But what if that day never comes, and we spend our lives waiting for it? Sometimes, we must go “Against the Grain.”

In life, we all encounter irritants—those constant little grits that rub us the wrong way. But one day, we realize that those very challenges have shaped us, allowing us to see the world through a beautiful new lens, much like a pearl formed from the friction. Our prayer for this new chapter is to create a space where families can gather, enjoy, and create precious memories—moments we’ll cherish long after the “things” have faded away. We hope to inspire meaningful conversations, hearty laughter, and lasting memories for all who visit.
