Warmer days are here… which means it’s officially lake season at Lake of the Woods Resort ☀️🌊⛵️

Spring is here and so are the goslings!🪿✨

Across the Klamath Basin, fluffy ducklings and baby geese are beginning to hatch — a sure sign that waterfowl mating season is in full swing. From the peaceful waters of Rocky Point to the rivers, marshes, and wildlife refuges throughout the basin, it’s one of the best times of year to get outside and witness nature come to life.🌿

Keep your eyes peeled along the shoreline for Canada geese leading their tiny goslings through the water, and ducks nesting in the reeds around the refuges and riverbanks. Whether you’re exploring the Wood River Wetland, Lower Klamath & Tule Lake Refuges, or spending a quiet morning around Rocky Point, there are plenty of opportunities to spot these springtime babies in the wild.🦆

If you’re heading out birdwatching, remember to help protect these little ones by keeping a respectful distance, staying on designated trails, keeping dogs leashed, and never approaching wildlife. Binoculars and zoom lenses are your best friend this time of year!📸

Who’s ready for baby bird season in the Klamath Basin?🌞

Join us Thursday, May 7 at Garage Tap House from 6-8pm for the next installment of THE KLAMATH STAGE! FREE Admission. All ages welcome!

Formerly our showcase series, this program expansion and rebranding is about shining a brighter light on the ecosystem that makes live music thrive in the Klamath Basin:

- The local artists who shape our sound
- The traveling acts who bring fresh stories
- The venues that give music a home

This event features performances by:

6pm: Haley Bond (from Reno)
7pm: Bluebirds (from the Rogue Valley)

HALEY BOND:

Haley Bond is a singer-songwriter who walks the sacred ground of art with both reverence and edge. A national songwriting finalist in “The Great American Song Contest,” “USA Songwriting Competition,” and “Unsigned Only,” her music defies expectation in the indie landscape, offering a sound that is at once timeless and fiercely her own.

With years of international touring experience, Haley’s live performances are wholly enrapturing—raising the concert experience to something otherworldly. Her songs carry both intimacy and power, inviting audiences into a space where authenticity and artistry meet.

BLUEBIRDS:

Bluebirds are a band built on the power of many shared voices woven together as one. Known for their soaring vocal harmonies and authentic edge, they channel the golden age of classic pop while sharpening it with a distinctive indie grit. Their songs strike a rare balance — familiar yet fresh — with infectious hooks that immerse audiences in layers of sonic energy and raw emotion. Voices aren’t just decoration here; they’re instruments that drive the music forward, creating a vocal tapestry that contrasts beautifully with their lo-fi roots. Classic traditions, independent spirit, and kicking tunes — that’s Bluebirds.

The dreamiest campground in Southern Oregon🌲⛺️✨

📍Jackson F. Kimball Campground/State Recreation Site

Located just 30 minutes from Klamath Falls and 45 minutes from Crater Lake! Tucked along the headwaters of the Wood River, this place gives off total hidden gem energy.

Things to know👇
Crystal-clear spring-fed water (like… unreal blue).
Peaceful forested campsites surrounded by towering pines.
Wildlife everywhere—deer, birds, and the occasional otter if you’re lucky.
Easy walking trails along the river = perfect slow mornings.
Vault toilets on-site.
Campfire rings and picnic tables for those golden hour + s’mores nights.
Quiet, low-key, and never overly crowded.
Limited cell service = the reset you didn’t know you needed.

🚮 Leave No Trace Reminder
Pack it in, pack it out—leave this place better than you found it! Respect wildlife (watch from a distance, don’t feed). Stick to established trails and campsites. Fully extinguish campfires and follow seasonal fire restrictions. Let’s keep this spot wild, clean, and just as magical for the next person!

One minute you’re sipping coffee under the trees, the next you’re watching the bluest water you’ve ever seen flow right past your campsite. It’s calm, it’s quiet, it’s the kind of place where time slows all the way down.

The way this spot sneaks up on you… you think it’s just a quick overnight and suddenly you’re planning your next trip back before you’ve even left. Something about falling asleep under the pines and waking up to that glassy river just hits different.
