Kat and Donnie Geuea purchased Whale Island Cabins in May of 2016. They came to Alaska with the US Army in 2008 with the express purpose of opening a lodge, a hunting cabin, or a fishing cabin. This property is the fulfillment of all of their Alaskan Dreams. Three waterfront cabins on Whale Island, Kodiak, AK sit on 3 1/2 beautiful acres inside a protected cove. The 17 sq. mile, remote island sits adjacent to Raspberry and Afognak Islands; it is populated primarily with deer. There are kayaks on the property to allow for whale watching and a boat for halibut fishing. You cannot ask for a more secluded, picturesque location. Donnie and Kat live in North Pole, AK during the school year. The cabins are set up to be run remotely. Payments can be made digitally and transportation to the islands will be up to the customer. Codes will be provided for access to the cabins.

Those of you who follow my exploits at Whale Island Cabins know that I LOVE the extreme low tides we get a couple of days a month in the summer. Today the tide was negative 2.5 (feet below sea level). All of this sand is normally under 10-15 feet of water. I like to take advantage of these days to do things I need to do on the boat! I can walk to it!

Devil’s club is a spiny shrub with large elephant-ear like leaves found in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Historically, Indigenous peoples in Alaska have used this plant for tea, poultices and tinctures, and for making decorative beads. It’s properties help to relieve aching due to arthritis and other joint maladies. This balm is simply and organically made with no artificial ingredients or additives. It can be purchased in two or four ounces, scented or unscented. The scented is a mild lavender scent. The unscented is the unadulterated green scent that nature gave it.
