Para la cosmovisión maya de toda Mesoamérica, el quetzal era símbolo de fertilidad, abundancia y poder por lo que era un ave considerada como sagrada.

Según la tradición oral, con el soplo divino de los dioses, las hojas azul verdosas del árbol Guayacán cayeron y mientras llegaban al suelo tomaron la forma del majestuoso quetzal con largo plumaje.

Según esta leyenda, previo a la conquista española el quetzal emitía un hermoso canto.

Pero cuando los españoles conquistaron el área mesoamericana y en ella Guatemala, el ave guardó silencio y no se ha vuelto a escuchar ese bello canto. Derivado de eso, la tradición oral afirma que el quetzal solo volverá a cantar cuando la tierra sea verdaderamente libre.

There's been tons of sightings and a couple mishaps with Rattle snakes In and around the canyon Stay away from sitting on water tower rim theres tons underneath... also this large adult Rattler was found by Orange grove The Hacienda Heights Side ... stay alert everybody your in there home dont forget it
