The INTERNATIONAL INTERN INITIATIVE is currently taking applications for the 2022 season. If you are interested in contributing your volunteer talents and skills to a vibrant venue or learning new ones, this is the place for you. Inquire now.
IDIT'MIHUAI: Institute for Development of Indigenous Technology - Museum of Indian Heritage & Ubiquitous Art Initiative invites you to join us in our mission.
We are a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit multi-functional educational facility dedicated to promoting the diverse cultural heritage of our distinctive region of south Louisiana. Although just minutes from New Orleans, we are tucked away in a wild rural area, noted for its swamps and bayous, bordering a wildlife refuge on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.
We do not operate as a for profit business so we rely upon sincere volunteers for help on a daily basis in exchange for food and accommodations, professional instruction, enjoyable tours, and aquatic recreation.

As a continuing work in progress, we have many interesting things to do that you can be a part of. You will receive a sense of accomplishment by contributing your efforts to our unique mission, while you engage with us and others in accomplishing goals.

Work Projects
Our volunteers receive instructional training and supervision in various trades skills on construction related projects from carpentry to plumbing, to agriculture, landscape maintenance, as they prepare to learn new skills or practice those they already have.
As a retired engineering planner, contractor, and educator I have a diverse background and wide range of experience to provide a plethora of knowledge to those volunteers who seek to learn new things and enlarge their achievements.

This is a opportunity also to provide for others, meet other volunteers, enhance your experience, engage with locals, expand and extend your range in scope and quality.

Explore the Northshore
Peddle & Paddle
In your free time you can explore the many exquisite sights of our area on our bikes--along the Tammany Trace a 31-mile hike and bike trail, or by our kayak in the several serene bayous, which surround our site. For those with a vehicle we can offer self-guided tours of the area. Enjoy the excitement of New Orleans or the energy of the Gulf Coast.
We supply gear so you may catch fish from our pond or go crabbing in the lake.

Academy of the Beyond
For the more esoteric we offer the opportunity to grow your mind through exchange of ideas, and discussion on various topics of interest.

We have wi fi and internet access.
