Did you know that Molokini is technically a piece of Maui? Formed approx. 230,000 years ago, Molokini is actually sunken volcanic cider cone! 🌋 Molokini has gone through many phases since its creation - from serving as ancient Hawaiian fishing grounds for hundreds of years to becoming a bomb testing site for the U.S. military during the 1940s and WWII.

Today the crater and surrounding reef is recognized as a Marine Life Conservation District and Bird Sanctuary with a strict mooring system for visitors 🪸 Thanks to advocates like our co-founder Jim C**n, Marine Conservation Districts were pushed for in the 70s and are established at Hulopo’e Bay, Honolua Bay, and Molokini Crater

Meet the acrobat of the ocean — the spinner dolphin, also known as Naiʻa in ‘Ōlelo Hawai’i! 🐬✨

These playful swimmers can spin up to 7 times in one jump, reaching speeds of 20 mph, all while putting on spectacular shows. In Hawai’i, you can spot several species of spinner dolphins gliding through our waters, showcasing their incredible agility and social nature.

Aloha Trilogy ‘Ohana,

On July 5th, 1973, our company founders welcomed six passengers aboard the very first Trilogy excursion from Lahaina to Lāna’i.

Yesterday, our crew removed a 780-pound ghost net from the waters between Maui and Lanā’i 🌊

Ghost nets are abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing nets and debris that get entangled together and drift freely in the ocean. These nets pose a serious threat to ocean ecosystems, as they can entangle fish, seabirds, turtles, and mammals. Efforts to remove these nets are crucial for protecting marine biodiversity and maintaining healthy ocean environments.

Mahalo to our incredible crew of ocean advocates and stewards for working to remove this massive net from Maui Nui waters 🙏🏽🌺
