WEST SIDE: Sunny. Highs 82 to 87. East winds up to 15 mph.

SOUTH SIDE: Sunny. Highs around 90. North winds up to 15 mph.

NORTH SHORE: Breezy. Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 81 to 88 near the shore to around 71 near 5000 feet. Southeast winds up to 20 mph shifting to the east 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent.

CENTRAL MAUI: Sunny and breezy. Highs 84 to 91. East winds up to 20 mph increasing to 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

UPCOUNTRY: Sunny. Isolated showers in the morning. Highs around 69 at the visitor center to around 72 at the summit. East winds up to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

EAST MAUI: Breezy. Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 81 to 88 near the shore to around 71 near 5000 feet. Southeast winds up to 20 mph shifting to the east 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Happy Aloha Friday! Maui is starting the day with sunshine, light morning winds, and generally calm surf. A new south swell is bringing in fresh waves, and conditions could change as winds pick up later this afternoon. Check out the snapshots below for more details.

Northwest: 7.5

Inside the bays, the morning conditions are calm and inviting. Honolua Bay has calm waters with excellent visibility. Kapalua bay has some waves but should be nice in the more sheltered areas. Napili Bay has small waves, though the high tide leaves little beach exposed. Outside the bays and near the points, strong winds are stirring up rougher seas.

Ka’anapali: 7.5

The south side of Black Rock should offer solid wind protection all day, though strong currents near the point can make conditions turn rough quickly. Kahekili Beach is best in the morning, but its deep waters have powerful currents so use caution. Expect winds to pick up in the afternoon, bringing choppier conditions.

South Shore: 6.5

Winds are light this morning, with calm, clear water in some areas. The Kamaole Beaches have the smallest waves, while beaches farther south still have some surf, so use caution when entering or exiting the ocean. Light winds are expected to continue for most of the day. Sunny skies will make it a nice beach day.
