The puakenikeni is a treasured part of local lei culture, cherished for its blossoms that deepen from white to golden yellow and orange with time.

The name means “10-cent flower” (pua = flower, kenikeni = ten cents), referring to the price the blossoms once sold for.

This Mother’s Day, puakenikeni is a reminder of the beauty, fragrance, love and aloha that moms or other nurturing individuals provide. Happy Mother’s Day, Maui County!

It has been a heavy couple of weeks out here as the Hawaiian Island chain dealt with a "100-year-storm".

To our 'Ohana near and far: Our hearts are with every family dealing with flooding, damage, and the mess this storm left behind. We know a lot of you are still in it. Sending love and Aloha your way.

And to those of you visiting right now, we feel for you. Spring break wasn’t supposed to look like this. Kona storms can stick around longer than anyone wants, and this one definitely did.

Quick update on our operations:

Most of our snorkel tours are on pause right now. The water along the coast is still brown and murky from runoff, and it’s just not safe to be in yet.

Molokini is a different story — the water out there is still clear, so those trips are continuing for now.

We are still running whale watches and sunset sails when conditions allow, but everything is being called day by day with safety first.

We’ll keep you posted as conditions clean up and settle down. If you’ve got a trip coming up and aren’t sure what to expect, reach out — we’ve got you.
