Kihei Maui - Paid Parking and Road Closure Update:

There's finally some visible progress being made on the closed area near Kamaole Beach Park III that was damaged during the Kona storms a few months ago. Work crews have been active in the area, and it looks like repairs are moving forward.

Another big change coming to South Maui is the installation of paid parking machines at several beach parks in Kihei. Paid parking is expected to begin soon, with daily parking available for visitors, and weekly passes are expected to be offered as well.

The good news is that aside from the closed section, it's business as usual in Kihei. Beaches, shops, restaurants, and local businesses remain open and would appreciate your support. If you're visiting the area, consider stopping by favorites like Freds Mexican Cafe - Kihei for a meal while exploring South Maui.

What are your thoughts on the new paid parking system? Mahalo for following along with our Maui updates!

Have you been to Big Beach before?

Located in South Maui, Big Beach is known for its powerful shorebreak, which can create dangerous swimming conditions and has caught many visitors off guard. Even so, it's also one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, with a long stretch of golden sand, clear blue water, and beautiful views of Kahoolawe & Molokini Crater offshore.

Even if you stay on the sand, Big Beach is absolutely worth a visit and deserves a spot on your Maui itinerary!

Have you been to Haleakalā Crater on Maui?

One of the most unique places in Hawaiʻi, Haleakalā National Park protects a vast volcanic landscape that rises more than 10,000 feet above sea level. The crater stretches for miles and is filled with colorful cinder cones, lava formations, and dramatic views that make it feel like you're walking on another planet.

The park is also home to some of Hawaiʻi's rarest plants and wildlife. Keep an eye out for the nēnē, Hawaiʻi's state bird, which was once on the brink of extinction but has made a remarkable recovery. You may also spot the endangered ʻiʻiwi, a bright red native honeycreeper known for its curved bill. Another natural treasure is the Haleakalā silversword, a rare plant found nowhere else on Earth. The silversword can take decades to bloom and flowers only once before completing its life cycle.

Watching the sunrise from the summit can be one of the most incredible experiences on Maui. As the sun rises above the clouds, the views are truly unforgettable. Sunrise reservations are required, and temperatures can be surprisingly cold, often near freezing, so warm clothing is a must. If you'd rather skip the early wake up call and reservation process, sunset is another excellent option. The colors can be spectacular, and no reservation is required.

We often hike into the crater and stay in the rustic wilderness cabins, and every trip feels like a new adventure. Between the hiking trails, unique landscapes, incredible stargazing, and some of the best views in Hawai'i, Haleakalā is a place that belongs on every Maui itinerary! We hope you enjoy some of the photos we've taken over the past few years! Mahalo for the support! 💓🤙

Aloha everyone - This was one of our first walking tour videos we made when we first started creating content. It was filmed before the Lahaina fires and is being shared as a historical look at the area, including views of the Wharf Cinema Center, the Lahaina Banyan Tree, and the Lahaina Harbor. It also included spots like Down the Hatch, Cool Cats, Amigos, and other iconic places at the Wharf Cinema Center. It's still hard to believe it's all gone. 😭 This footage captures Lahaina as it was at the time and serves as a record of those memories. Feel free to share your favorite memories of Lahaina in the comments.

Surf Update Kaʻanapali Point 🌊 We're checking out the wave conditions from in front of the Kaʻanapali Aliʻi. Just down the beach is Black Rock and the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, to the north you'll find Marriott's Maui Ocean Club and the Hyatt. The surf remains rough and ocean conditions are still hazardous, so we would not recommend swimming at this time. conditions are expected to improve over the next few days. Until then, enjoy the views from shore and always use caution around the ocean. Mahalo for watching!

Dangerous conditions in Ka'anapali today 🌊 We are in Kaʻanapali, Maui checking surf conditions near Black Rock. Today the ocean is very rough with a strong shore break and powerful waves pushing straight into shore. Swimming is not recommended in these conditions due to the increased risk from the surf and currents. This footage is taken right in front of the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa, where conditions can change quickly depending on swell direction. When in doubt, don’t go out.

Have you been to Maui Wine?

Formerly known as Tedeschi Winery, Maui Wine offers a unique Upcountry experience far from Maui’s beaches, with historic grounds, wide open views, and locally made wines. Located in Ulupalakua on the slopes of Haleakalā, it is known for its signature wines, including pineapple wine made with Maui Gold pineapples. Visitors can enjoy tastings, walk the grounds, and take in the scenery of rolling hills and cooler mountain air.

If you’re looking to experience a different side of Maui beyond the coastline, Maui Wine is well worth adding to your itinerary. Have you been to Maui Wine? How was your experience?
