The Hyatt Vacation Club in Kaʻanapali is continuing to put plants in vulnerable areas along the shoreline to help combat erosion and stabilize the coast.

There’s also a proposal to bring sand in from offshore to replenish Kaʻanapali Beach and restore it closer to its 1980s footprint. If approved, the project is expected to begin in fall 2027.

Some of the local community has valid concerns about the project and how beach restoration could affect the coastline and environment. It’s an important conversation, and hopefully the community’s voice continues to be part of the process.

Ka'anapali Maui 8/9/26 🌊 Join us on an aerial tour of Ka'anapali Beach, We’ll start by looking towards the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and Black Rock, then head south where we’ll see the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort, The Whaler, Whalers Village, and The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, with the rest of the Ka'anapali resorts visible in the distance.

Black Rock and Kahekili are looking great this morning with good snorkeling conditions and relatively calm water, but expect stronger northeast winds this afternoon that could make the ocean rougher. Skies are partly cloudy this morning with some sunshine expected later, and temperatures will be in the low to upper 80s with a chance of scattered showers.

As the sun set over Lahaina town yesterday, 102 crosses stood above the community, each one honoring a beloved life lost on August 8, 2023.

In a small community gathering, the names of those who were lost were read aloud by their families, church leaders, friends and neighbors who came together in remembrance. White lei adorned with red ribbons and white roses were placed upon each cross, quiet expressions of love for lives that will never be forgotten.

Today and every day, we honor their memory in our hearts, keeping it alive through our smiles, our aloha and our care for one another.

We remember.
We honor.
We heal.

Who remembers Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina Town?

This was one of our favorite places to visit, with some of the best burgers on the island, delicious milkshakes, and an atmosphere that was hard to beat. It also had a great view overlooking the Banyan Tree and the historic Pioneer Inn.

Be sure to visit Cool Cat Cafe in Kihei. While nothing can replace the original location in Lahaina, the Kihei restaurant still has some great food options and is worth checking out.

This video was filmed a few months before the Lahaina fire and brings back some great memories of a special place in Lahaina Town.
