We’re keeping a close eye on a tropical weather system developing south of Hawaiʻi. It has a 90% chance of developing into a tropical depression, and tropical moisture could bring more rain, gusty winds and heavier showers to Maui later this week. The exact track is still uncertain, so we’ll be watching it closely.

We’ll keep everyone updated over the next couple of days as we learn more.

Black Rock, Ka'anapali conditions today, 9/22/26 🌊 Here’s a look at today’s conditions around Black Rock in Ka'anapali. Mostly sunny right now, with stronger afternoon winds and clouds expected. Surf is still up according to the reports but snorkeling looks decent.

If you're planning to snorkel, always check the conditions before getting in the water. We don't recommend snorkeling past the point, and we recommend wearing a flotation device. Always snorkel with a buddy! Mahalo for watching!

Have you visited the northern part of Ka'anapali? This quieter end of Kaanapali is one of our favorite areas. You’ll find resorts like Honua Kai, The Mahana, Maui Kai, Hilton Vacation Club, and Kaanapali Shores, along with the beach walk path that runs toward Black Rock at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.

There’s also plenty nearby, including the Honokowai Food Truck Park, several restaurants, and a grocery store. It’s a great area to explore if you want to experience a quieter side of Kaanapali while still being close to everything.

Have you heard of the Ohai Trail on the west side of Maui? This short coastal hike is often overlooked, but it offers incredible ocean views and a quieter alternative to some of the busier trails. The trailhead is right off the highway with limited free parking, and the trail is generally easy with a few rocky, uneven sections. There’s very little shade, so bring plenty of water, especially if you’re hiking midday. As you make your way through the rugged lava fields, you’ll find beautiful coastline views around nearly every corner, along with signs explaining the native plants and how lava and erosion shaped the landscape. During whale season from December through April, keep an eye out for humpback whales offshore. Be sure to follow our channel for more Maui adventures!

Earlier last week, we posted a video showing some of our favorite places in Honokowai and Kahana, and apparently we committed the ultimate Maui food crime by leaving out Papi’s Ohana. 😂
We even got comments like, “If you don’t mention Papi’s Ohana then we can’t take you seriously.”
Okay, okay… we hear you!
Honestly, I haven’t really felt like braving the long line just yet, but I HAVE had a cinnamon roll from Papi’s before, and I can personally tell you they are incredible.

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure inside Haleakalā Crater!

We’re spending 3 days hiking and camping inside Haleakala National Park, starting at the Sliding Sands Trailhead at about 9,740 feet and making our way down into the crater.

We’ll stay at the historic Kapalaoa Cabin, camp under the stars at Holua Campground, and explore the incredible volcanic landscape along the way. We’ll show you what the Sliding Sands Trail is really like, including the loose cinder, steep elevation changes, high-altitude hiking, changing weather, blooming Haleakala silverswords, Pele’s Paint Pot, and more.

On day three, we head out on the Halemauʻu Trail, including the steep switchbacks and roughly 1,400 feet of elevation gain back toward the trailhead.

We’ll also share practical tips to help you plan your own Haleakala hiking trip, whether you’re considering a day hike or an overnight adventure inside the crater.

Have you been to Wailea on the south side of the island? Let us know your favorite beach or resort in the comments below!

Here’s a unique perspective of the Wailea coastline, with Wailea Beach on the left and Polo Beach on the right. You can also see the Grand Wailea, Four Seasons Resort, Wailea Point, and Fairmont Kea Lani in the photo.

This photo was taken on September 20, 2026, and you can really see how much shoreline has been lost on the Polo Beach side, while Wailea Beach still appears to have a decent amount of sand.

This area is also home to the Wailea Beach Path, which is a great way to explore South Maui on foot. You can walk along the coastline and connect several of the different resorts and beaches along the way.

If you want to explore the area, we recommend parking at Polo Beach and starting the walk from there.
