First Spark Nature Experience is blessed to announce Foraging Experiences this summer! I will be team teaching my children’s camps this summer with a professional forager from California. She will also be teaching adult classes on our farm. Lynzee is going to be living on our property for 8 weeks, familiarizing herself with all of the wild growing plants our farm and this area has to offer, and preparing to bring to you and your children an amazing curriculum! She has a 4 year old who forages with her every day, and is very experienced with bringing hands-on experiences for all ages. I have availability in both my June 27-28 and July 11-12 children’s camps. The children’s foraging experience is held from 10am-4pm each day and the fee is $100 for the 2 day camp.

The adult classes, held in July 19 and August 14, will feature both the foraging and processing components each day with two dates you can choose from. They are the same class, held on two different dates. They will be held from 10am-3pm and the fee is $65. Please PM me with questions or to hold your spot. 🙂

I have two spots left for Snow Camp this week!

First Spark Nature Experience is creating a very last minute camp opportunity this week! The conditions/temperatures have to be just right for Snow Camp, and since we are going to have some warmer temperatures, which will melt all of our beautiful snow, they also give us the perfect opportunity to have Snow Camp before that happens. Our lesson plans include Cooperative Learning and Sensory activities with a Snow Bakery including Snow Paint/Glitter/Water Beads, Mr. SnowTato Head, a special Winter Art Project, Learning about Snow Science/Animals, Snow Building and more! Camp will be this Thursday (48 degrees), December 29 from 10am-4pm. The cost will be $50 per child. Our property is beautifully wooded with over a mile of trails where we will be looking for evidence of how nature is awake and sleeping during winter. We will also be inside for part of the day creating our Art Project, etc. Let me know ASAP if you have any questions and/or would like to sign up. ❤️

Let them mix the playdough.

It’s going to be okay, really.

Let them build bridges for toy cars with blocks,
…and bring spoons and bowls into the sandbox.

Let them pull blankets and pillows off their beds to make forts and have tea parties for stuffed animals. 🧸

I know it’s a lot… and maybe the thought of the colors mixing makes your eye twitch… but…

Their imaginations are vast and expansive, they can create magical worlds of make believe and vibrant art, if given the opportunity.

Let them make mud pies, at least once, jump in the puddle…and every now and then, let them mix the playdough.

Let them show you how beautiful the world can be.

I have an opening in my Pioneer Camp this week, Wednesday and Thursday, August 11-12 from 10-4. Please let me know if you would like it!

Does anyone recognize these jackets? I found them in the barn stuck in the hay...probably from Maple Syrup Camp. 🙂

What a beautiful day at First Spark Preschool Camp. We learned about Patterns in Nature including spirals, symmetry, and the special numbers that are common in Nature that are part of the Fibonacci Sequence. Ie. Many flower petals and leaves have clusters of 3 and 5 which are two Fibonacci numbers. Our sensory activities included stations with nature objects that had patterns; pine cones and seashells have spirals, dandelions are Mandelas, and bubbles and wasp nests have hexagon patterns. We even looked at the close up patterns of plants, a goldfish scale, and a butterfly wing in the microscope.

On our nature walk we found examples of flowers and leaves with 3 and 5 leaves/petals, observed a fiddlestick spiral, and collected items to make our own spirals together in cooperative groups.

It was a fun-filled, learning-filled morning!

First Spark filled to waiting list capacity this weekend for nearly every camp. I do still have a few remaining spaces in the 4-12 age camps and a few in the Preschool classes.
