Everyone thinks they need to wait around the World Showcase Lagoon to get a magical view of Luminous The Symphony Us. We book a late dinner at this restaurant instead.

Underrated Disney:
Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya in the Japan Pavillion at Epcot.

I cannot explain how nice it was to watch this fireworks show inside, with air-conditioning, in July. What made it even better is the walkway around the building is a few feet below the level of the restaurant floor. That means you can actually see over the heads of the people standing outside! While seating by the window is not guaranteed, you're able to go outside to the deck/walkway that wraps around the building.

Day or night, the views of the World Showcase Lagoon from Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya are amazing.

For those who are saying, "there's nothing for my picky eater there," try the Kara-Age Chicken or the Ishiyaki Rice.

Starting August 27, 2026 a new fireworks dining package for this restaurant will be available for booking.

Where do you like to watch the fireworks show at Epcot?

You will not catch me in a theme park without a wait time management plan.

Lighting Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Premier Pass, a VIP Tour, or even an after hours party (I'm looking at you Hollywood Studios), keep you doing the things you want to do with your time at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Let's be real though, there is always some amount of waiting at a theme park. Yes, even with a VIP Tour. The real question is, how much do you want to reduce your wait?

I do not understand the love of 7am character breakfast. Don't get me wrong, I love a character meal. Just not at 7am, before I head off to a full day at a theme park with 4 kids.

So, what's the alternative?

Take the last seating of that character breakfast and have lunch.

First thing in the day everyone is ready to hit the ground running. Why stop that momentum by sitting for over an hour? Breakfast is a great time to get something from a quick service restaurant, eat shelf stable snacks you got at the grocery store, or even order room service. Bonus, you can bring food with you and eat while you're waiting in line to enter the theme park. Lines always seem to be easier when we have something to do.

Choosing lunch over breakfast or dinner, as your sit down meal, forces a break in your family's day. Theme parks can be a lot, especially if someone has never experienced that type of environment. Slowing down, with air-conditioning & fewer distractions, helps reset and recharge for an eventful afternoon. Bonus, it can help napping kiddos with the transition from rides & parades to sleep.

Good food AND I don't have to wait in line outside to meet our favorite characters? Count us in!

My top 3 character meals at Walt Disney World Resort in this order:

1. O'hana (breakfast only)
2. Akershus Royal Banquet (breakfast)
3. Topolino's Terrace (breakfast only)

On your next visit, try the last breakfast seating for brunch or early lunch. The mid-morning pause from the park energizes our non-nappers and helps the transition to rest for our nappers.

Halloween time is my favorite time at a Disney Resort.

The pumpkins, the Halloween outfits on characters, the snacks! Halloween at Disney has accidentally become our family's fall tradition.

Resort guests can get their tickets now and the general public can purchase on May 12th.
