One of my favorite travel memories happened when I least expected it.

For months, my best friend and I had planned our concert "world tour" across Sweden and Scotland. Then, unexpectedly, she had to cancel.

That left me with a choice: cancel my trip too... or take the leap and travel solo.

I'll let you guess which one I chose. 😉

What followed was one of the most memorable adventures of my life.

Instead of sticking to the original plan, I found myself wandering through cities in Sweden, England, and Scotland at my own pace. I spent hours getting lost in history museums and art galleries, discovered hidden restaurants serving food I still crave to this day, and had conversations with locals that completely changed the way I experienced each destination.

Looking back, I think the biggest surprise wasn't the places I visited—it was how much I grew from stepping outside my comfort zone.

Travel has a funny way of rewarding us when things don't go according to plan.

I'd take that trip again in a heartbeat. ❤️

“Isn’t it expensive?”

Maybe.

But when I think about the money we’ve spent on family travel, that’s not the number that sticks with me.

What sticks with me are the memories.

The laughter in airport terminals.
The excitement of seeing something for the first time.
The conversations we wouldn’t have had if we’d stayed home.
The moments that become family stories years later.

For our family, travel is an investment.

Not just financially—but emotionally.

It’s an investment in relationships.
In shared experiences.
In being fully present with one another.

And to be clear, I’m not saying you have to travel to create meaningful memories.

A family vacation isn’t the only way to build strong bonds.

But for us, stepping away from the routines, distractions, chores, screens, and endless to-do lists creates space to reconnect in a way that’s hard to replicate at home.

Whether that’s a Disney vacation, a cruise, a weekend road trip, or a simple day adventure close to home, the destination isn’t really the point.

The point is being present.

The point is investing in the people you love.

Because one day, the kids grow up.

And I don’t think many parents look back wishing they had spent less time making memories with their family.

Cool Kids Summer at Walt Disney World is here!

While we didn’t get to do everything (curse you virtual queue!!), we were definitely excited to experience some of the interactive character experiences like Jesse’s Round Up!

The kids loved the Animation Courtyard where characters were out in force playing games and making memories.

We topped it off with the Starlight Parade and saw Peter and Wendy fly! Then give us a sweet little wave!

Just got back from a week at Disney, and let me tell you. It’s NEVER enough time.

There is something so calming about entering the “Disney Bubble” just before the excitement of park days hits.

And with Cool Kids Summer in full swing, there were new things to discover around every corner. It was such a special trip and still processing SO MUCH information. Will be back soon with insights!

One of the coolest things (in my personal opinion) about Animal Kingdom and EPCOT is their live animals and how cast members enrich their lives!

Disney is a very important contributor to the conservation and rehabilitation efforts of the animals you see there!

Did you know that you can learn about the animals, their personalities, and even how cast members care for them on Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a show on Disney+?

It was such a cool experience getting to see the animals we’ve been learning about in person while visiting the parks!
