Because booking is usually the easy part. Choosing the right fit is where things get complicated.

I help compare resorts, room types, cruise ships, theme-park options, transfers and the little details that can make one trip work much better than another.

The bigger the family, the more important room planning becomes.

A room that works for 2 adults and 2 small children may not work for 2 adults and 3 older kids. Occupancy rules, children’s ages, bed types and room layouts can change which options are actually available.

And if you’re considering connecting rooms, don’t assume every resort or hotel handles those requests the same way.

I’d rather figure out the sleeping arrangement first than find the “perfect” resort and discover later that the room doesn’t fit your family.

“All-inclusive” does NOT mean every resort includes the exact same things.

Meals and drinks are usually part of the package, but the details can vary a lot. Room service, premium drinks, specialty dining, airport transfers, water activities, kids’ clubs, spa services, excursions and other extras may be handled differently from one resort to another.

That’s why I don’t compare all-inclusives by price alone. I look at what your family or couple will actually use — and what you may still pay for after you arrive.

If you’re comparing two resorts, send me the names. I can help you look past the word “all-inclusive” and compare what the experience really includes.

Disney or Universal? I wouldn’t choose one just because somebody says one is “better.”

I look at your kids’ ages, what movies and characters they’re into, how they feel about thrill rides, how long you’re staying, and what kind of pace your family enjoys.

For one family, Disney is the easy answer. For another, Universal is a much better fit.

The right choice isn’t about which park wins overall. It’s about which one fits YOUR family.

🚢 Norwegian Cruise Line changed its promotion today — and this one is worth a fresh look.

NCL is now offering 50% off cruise fares on open-for-sale sailings, and the discount applies to all guests in the stateroom — not just Guest 2.

That means this could price differently for:
• Couples
• Families
• Solo travelers
• Balcony, Club Balcony, Suite & Haven guests

There’s also a separate onboard credit offer of up to $500 per stateroom on select sailings, depending on the cruise length and stateroom category.

But here’s the important part: I wouldn’t choose a cruise just because the headline says “50% off.”

I look at the actual final price, what’s included, the deposit, any onboard credit, and whether the ship, itinerary and stateroom are actually a good fit for your trip.

If you’ve been looking at an NCL cruise — especially if we priced one recently — this is a good time for me to run the numbers again and see how the new promotion compares.

A family of five CAN stay together on an all-inclusive vacation — but the room choice matters more than most people realize.

I don’t just look for a room that says it sleeps five. I look at the actual occupancy rules, the kids’ ages, the bed setup, privacy, and whether the space will still feel comfortable after everyone’s luggage is inside.

Sometimes a family suite is the best answer. Sometimes two rooms make more sense. Sometimes a resort that looks perfect online simply isn’t a good fit for five.

If you’re traveling with 2 adults and 3 kids, send me the kids’ ages. That’s one of the first things I use to narrow the right options.
