Get ready for a paw-sitively spook-tacular afternoon at Barks & BOOze at Moore Farms Botanical Garden! This family-friendly Halloween celebration is bringing together fall fun, festive costumes, and plenty of four-legged friends on Saturday, October 24.

From 3–6 PM, explore the beautiful gardens dressed up for the season while enjoying:

🐕 Dog-friendly fun + a Pet Costume Contest!

Meet costumed re-enactors, watch skilled artisans demonstrate traditional crafts, explore local history, enjoy live bluegrass music, and—weather permitting—experience live musket-firing demonstrations! ⚒️🧵🔥

You’ll see everything from blacksmithing, weaving, indigo processing, soap and candle making, and carpentry to fascinating exhibits at the Lynches Lake Historical Society & Museum.

🕰️ : Main Street Then & Now

Same intersection. Nearly 100 years apart. 👀

Take a look at East Main Street at the corner of Church Street as it appeared in 1920 compared to how it looks today!

The historic photo captures Lake City shortly after the death of J.M. Truluck. At the time, the stable had been leased to Mr. Truluck’s former stable manager and was operating as the King & Eaddy Stable, while the adjacent carriage shop had become Star Cars, one of Lake City’s early automobile dealers. The Hotel Truluck can also be seen nearby.

And just think—this was a time when horses and automobiles shared the streets as Lake City entered a new era of transportation and commerce. 🐎🚗

Today, the same corner is part of the heart of our revitalized downtown. While the businesses and streetscape have evolved, the crossroads is still a crossroads—and Main Street is still Main Street. ❤️

🌿 A CELEBRATION OF INDIGENOUS ART & CULTURE IS COMING TO DOWNTOWN LAKE CITY! 🌿

This Saturday, October 3, experience ArtFields' Echoes Across Millennia: Indigenous Arts & Culture Festival—a FREE day-long celebration of Native American art, culture, and living traditions of Indigenous tribes from across the Southeast.

From 10 AM–4 PM, downtown Lake City will come alive with:

🎶 Music & drumming
💃 Traditional dance
📖 Storytelling
🎨 An Indian art market
🍽️ Foodways & cultural experiences
🖼️ Opportunities to explore the 9|9: Art of the Native South and Bounded Space: Belonging to the Native South exhibitions

Festivities will take place outdoors on Village Green and inside The Bean Market, with the two Indigenous art exhibitions at Jones-Carter Gallery and TRAX Visual Art Center adding even more opportunities to learn, experience, and engage.
