I led American tour groups throughout the Soviet Union during the 1980s. The USSR photographs in this Short are my own photos from Moscow and Leningrad at the time.

This is a firsthand True Travel Story about what I saw under Soviet communism — and what local guides shared with me privately.

One of my favorite travel memories...

After decades of leading tours around the world, I've collected more stories than I could ever count. I decided it was finally time to start sharing a few of them.

This first story takes us back to one of my earliest tours to China, when an airline lost the luggage of a very tall gentleman in my group. What happened next involved an entire department store, lots of laughter, and a memory none of us ever forgot.

I'd love to hear from you...

What's one travel memory you'll never forget? It could be funny, unexpected, or simply unforgettable. Share it in the comments—I really do enjoy reading travel stories!

If you enjoy travel, behind-the-scenes experiences, and stories from a lifetime in the travel industry, I'd love to have you follow along. More stories are on the way.

Working in Huntington Beach today.

One of the best parts of our job isn't the location...it's the people we work with. Long days, lots going on behind the scenes...and plenty of laughs along the way.

This is the real Tour Director life..
busy, fun, and always something new.

Pam and I have worked together for years... and we always find something to laugh about. 😃 ❤️

The people and the places really are the best part of this career.

A holiday cruise in Newport Harbor with fellow tour directors — celebrating the season, sharing a moment together, and appreciating the beauty around us.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah.

We coordinate high-end groups at luxury resorts.
Arrivals. Transportation. Events. Tours.

Everything runs flawlessly when guests arrive.

And before guests arrive? We howl at the moon. 😂

After 30+ years training tour directors, here’s what I know:
the best professionals are confident enough to run perfect programs —
and human enough to have fun with their team.

This is what tour directing really looks like behind the scenes.
